Inspect, diagnose, and repair automotive air conditioning and heating systems.
Perform refrigerant recovery, recycling, and recharging in compliance with EPA regulations.
Identify and fix leaks in AC systems using diagnostic tools.
Replace faulty components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and expansion valves.
Conduct electrical system checks related to AC and heating controls.
Perform routine maintenance, including cabin air filter replacement and system cleaning.
Test system performance and ensure proper cooling/heating operation.
Provide accurate cost estimates and explain repairs to customers.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Follow safety protocols and industry best practices.
Stay updated on new AC technologies and refrigerant handling procedures.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in automotive HVAC preferred.
EPA Section 609 Certification (required for handling refrigerants).
Proven experience as an Auto AC Technician or similar role.
Strong knowledge of AC system components and refrigerant types (R-12, R-134a, R-1234yf).
Proficiency with AC diagnostic tools (manifold gauges, leak detectors, vacuum pumps).
Basic understanding of automotive electrical systems.
Ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
Physical stamina to work in various conditions (heat, cold, tight spaces).
