Assistant Fish Cage Farm Manager

Job Purpose

To support the Cage Farm Manager in overseeing daily operations of marine fish cage farms, ensuring optimal fish health, efficient farm productivity, and adherence to biosecurity and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Farm Operations & Fish Husbandry

Assist in managing daily fish feeding schedules using both manual and automated systems.

Monitor fish behavior, growth rates, and health, report abnormalities immediately.

Support in grading, sampling, biomass estimation, and fish transfer operations.

Conduct daily inspections of cages, nets, moorings, and anchor systems.

Assist with harvesting and post-harvest operations, ensuring quality standards are met.

Water Quality & Biosecurity

Monitor and record water quality parameters such as dissolved oxygen, salinity, temperature, and pH.

Ensure implementation of biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreak.

Participate in fish vaccination, treatment, and quarantine procedures as required.

Team Supervision & Safety

Supervise and coordinate farm technicians and workers during feeding, net changing, and harvesting.

Train junior staff on standard operating procedures and safety protocols.

Enforce compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.

Maintenance & Logistics

Report and assist with repair and maintenance of farm equipment (nets, boats, feed systems).

Coordinate the delivery and storage of feed, tools, and farm consumables.

Assist with planning net washing and replacement schedules.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate records of feeding logs, fish inventory, mortalities, treatments, and maintenance activities.

Prepare routine reports for submission to the Farm Manager and senior management.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Aquaculture, Marine Science, Fisheries, or related field.

2-5 years of practical experience in fish cage farming operations, preferably in marine aquaculture (e.g., sea bream, sea bass).

Familiarity with aquaculture production cycles, fish health management, and water quality control.

Experience in operating and maintaining aquaculture equipment and cage infrastructure.

Skills & Competencies

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Ability to lead a team in a physically demanding outdoor environment.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or aquaculture farm management software.

Proficient in written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.

Physically fit and comfortable working on boats or offshore cages in variable weather conditions.

Working Conditions

Work will involve outdoor, marine, and sometimes offshore environments.

Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and be on-call during emergencies.

Frequent travel between farm locations as required by the company.
