The \xe2\x80\x98s School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for the position of Assistant / Associate Professor of Middle Eastern Studies.

The specific area of specialization and primary teaching assignment will be in the Arabic language courses, but the ideal candidate will also be able to support the Middle Eastern Studies Certificate program with expertise in a particular region (e.g., Gulf, Iraq, Iran) or additional academic qualifications (e.g., business, Islamic Art/Architecture).

The successful candidate will have:
\xe2\x80\x93 a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern Studies or a related field, from a Western accredited university
\xe2\x80\x93 previous teaching experience in a Western higher education system, with \xe2\x80\x93 high ratings of teaching effectiveness;
\xe2\x80\x93 evidence of scholarly activity or strong potential for scholarly contributions;
\xe2\x80\x93 excellent written and oral communication skills; and
\xe2\x80\x93 an ability to work collegially within a team of faculty members from diverse disciplines.

Preferable candidates will have evidence of successful teaching experience or must demonstrate significant potential and promise of teaching effectiveness and excellence at the undergraduate level. Additionally, candidates are expected to meet standards for personal professional scholarship, and assist in student advising and other services to the department, school, and community.

The compensation package for this position is competitive and is based on the expatriate model. Besides tax-exempt basic salary, it includes housing, annual two-way airfare, health / life insurance, professional memberships, conference attendance expenses, assistance with children\xe2\x80\x99s tuition, and other components.
