The Associate Director - Transport Planning performs various management, leadership, and people management accountabilities for a specific discipline. Has full responsibility for interpreting, organising, executing, and coordinating technical assignments and has formal supervisory responsibilities defining team operating standards and ensuring essential procedures are followed. Manages a group of transport planners across grades, coordinating activities of the unit. Implements the business plans in particular utilising the resources locally, in the Middle East, GDC and South Africa and is responsible for making day-to-day decisions for the team. Strengthens the transport planning area by providing training and development of employees. Requires the ability to proactively identify opportunities to support the overall growth of the Discipline area.

Team Management:
Supports the Director in implementing the overall discipline strategic goals. Responsible for working with the Team Leads/Managers and Principals in managing a team. Ensures effective communication of technical and business issues to all reporting staff and the wider team. Accountable for the results of the discipline department and adherence to approved project budgets. Fully accountable for the team\'s utilisation targets. Accountable for various management, leadership, and people management responsibilities for a specific discipline group or department. Supports business change management initiatives (i.e., quality management, safety) mandated by senior leadership. Recruits, trains, mentors, and evaluates the staff within the department and provides support to GDC to identify and develop skills. Advises local management on growth, staff recruitment and retention strategies.

Technical Excellence:
Engages with project technical teams within a field of expertise to confirm project approach and review deliverables. Liaises with units and individuals inside and outside the organisation concerning their technical sphere. Responsible for independently resolving all technical and managerial matters about the engineering issues within the department. Identifies trends, issues and opportunities for their area of the business, industry, service line or process. Conducts peer reviews, lead verifications and shares knowledge through internal technical presentations and standards development. Provides high-level technical expertise in the areas of Mobility Masterpanning; Traffic Impact Assessments; Transport Modelling; Transport Policies and Strategies and on the Future Mobility elements. He should be continuously striving to assess whether targets have been achieved and determine where improvements and efficiencies can be achieved. Can perform technical quality reviews including documentation in project record in accordance with policies and procedures and approves and signs off on work. Technical coordination with Authorities for approvals of schemes. Leads digital transformation strategy and implementation and embraces change within the Discipline. Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems.-this involves exploration of a subject area, the definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches. While past or ongoing experience in the Middle East geography is preferred, it is not a necessary requirement.

Project Management:
Can act as Project Manager on large and/or complex projects. Drives a culture of financial responsibility, ensuring maximum profitability. Has a solid understanding of project delivery requirements and is well versed with AECOM\'s project delivery procedures. Understand and apply the principles of risk and value management and use risk and value-based thinking to make project-level decisions.

Client Relationship Management:
Actively involved with clients and leads business development initiatives, participating in preparing major bids and proposals on the commercial and technical side. Maintains regular contact with the client to identify pre-released opportunities. Applies acquired expertise and knowledge to solve business challenges and participates in the development of the technical strategy for proposals within the area of expertise. Identifies trends, issues and opportunities for their area of the business, industry, service line or process. Presents to clients, senior leadership and other project stakeholders to demonstrate progress and clearly explain design principles.

Interdisciplinary Coordination:
Ensures assigned teams effectively coordinate with the other disciplines to ensure there are no design gaps providing fully coordinated design deliverables. This includes the support of the construction supervision teams.
