Job Summary:

Raytheon\xe2\x80\x99s Office of General Counsel is seeking a pro-active, high performing attorney to join the law department for Raytheon\xe2\x80\x99s International legal team, located in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The attorney will report to the General Counsel for Raytheon Emirates, Raytheon Doha, and Raytheon Saudi Arabia and support lawyers and other professional staff specializing in international transactions and contract negotiations, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.

The Associate Director, General Legal will be responsible for providing legal counsel for Raytheon Emirates, Raytheon Doha and various of our Middle East businesses. This position will work closely with the other attorneys and businesses in the region and US-based functions to reduce risk to the business by (a) providing legal counsel to stakeholders on Middle East transactions, partnering arrangements, joint ventures, offset and localization efforts, (b) supporting other functions and the strategic business units through legal engagement in activities such as labor and employment, teaming and other partnering arrangements, export-import compliance, joint ventures, contracting, due diligence, compliance and ethics, anti-corruption, and dispute resolution to ensure adherence to legal provisions and protection of company rights, and (c) developing local relationships with key outside counsel, customers, and regulators. The job location is in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Trusted Legal Adviser: Provide legal advice and assistance on all legal issues arising out of the performance of Raytheon\xe2\x80\x99s business and activities in UAE and other Middle East countries, including public procurement, offsets and localization, labor and employment, teaming, joint ventures, contracting, due diligence, dispute resolution, ethics and compliance, corporate, and export compliance. Work closely with a team of attorneys and business professionals to support legal matters for the operations of our businesses in the Middle East. Stay abreast of new laws and changes to existing laws that impact our operations and be able to provide a comprehensive analysis of those impacts to the business.
  • Leadership Team: Close engagement with the local leadership teams for Raytheon Emirates, Raytheon Doha as well as in the US to provide timely, compliant and pragmatic legal advice.
  • Industry Collaboration: Support joint ventures and other collaborative arrangements, including working with Boards of Directors and senior management, to ensure good business practice and compliance with all corporate registrations and requirements. Engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ethics: Support Raytheon Emirates, Raytheon Doha and related joint venture\xe2\x80\x99s ethics programs in cooperation with Raytheon Compliance and Ethics team. Conduct ethics training and investigations as required. Provide consultation, discussion, drafting, and resolution of ethics-related matters reported to the ethics department.
  • Local Law Subject Matter Expert: Provide legal advice and assistance to the Raytheon business General Counsels on UAE and other middle east countries\xe2\x80\x99 projects related to their business and coordinate program legal support with the relevant business counsel.
  • Governance: Review and provide guidance on governance-related policies and procedures for Raytheon Emirates, Raytheon Doha and other entities in the Middle East. Support internal and external audits. Help to ensure all entities in UAE remain in good standing and comply with all legal and regulatory requirements as required by the applicable law and any other relevant legislation or regulation including ensuring compliance with all statutory obligations.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • A University Degree in law, a Law School degree, or equivalent and minimum 6 years prior relevant experience.
  • Authorized to practice law in a jurisdiction with a current legal practicing certificate.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
Qualifications We Value:
  • Knowledge and understanding of general business, companies, offset/localization and procurement laws and regulations of UAE, Qatar and other Middle East countries.
  • Experience in the defense or aerospace industry sectors at a large, multi-national company.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including both written and verbal.
  • High level problem solving, reasoning, analytical research, and persuasive skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and initiative and work collaboratively in a diverse organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to integrity and honesty in all business dealings. Extensive legal experience to include work as inhouse counsel, at a law firm, and/or in government service.
  • Commercial and business acumen \xe2\x80\x93 demonstrated experience in providing legal advice to achieve commercial and business objectives.
  • History of success in influential leadership positions.
  • The ability to learn quickly and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and support complicated projects in a team environment.
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to work within time constraints and to adapt to changing situations.
  • High level of professionalism and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic.
Additional Details:

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
