Duties & Responsibilities of Assistant Technician - Facilities Management Field
1. Support Maintenance Operations
Assist senior technicians in preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and mechanical systems.
Carry out minor repair works under supervision, such as replacing fuses, tightening connections, or fixing small leaks.
Help with system inspections, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting tasks.
2. Equipment Handling & Operation
Operate hand tools, power tools, and basic testing equipment safely under guidance.
Assist in the operation of facility systems such as pumps, chillers, HVAC units, and electrical panels.
Monitor system parameters and report any abnormalities to senior technicians or supervisors.
3. Material & Inventory Support
Prepare and organize tools, spare parts, and materials for maintenance tasks.
Maintain proper storage and cleanliness of tools and consumables.
Report low stock levels or defective tools to the supervisor.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Assist in recording daily maintenance activities, job completion reports, and equipment logs.
Support senior technicians in preparing checklists and maintenance documentation for AMC compliance.
5. Safety & Compliance
Follow all company safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Assist in implementing safety procedures such as lockout-tagout (LOTO) under supervision.
Report unsafe conditions, potential hazards, or incidents immediately.
6. Coordination & Team Support
Work under the guidance of FM Supervisors and senior technicians to complete tasks efficiently.
Assist in coordination with other maintenance teams (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry) for integrated works.
Provide support during client inspections, routine checks, or emergency breakdowns.
7. Emergency & On-Call Support
Attend to minor maintenance requests promptly and escalate major issues to senior technicians.
Provide support during emergency maintenance or after-hours calls as required.
8. Learning & Development
Gain hands-on experience under supervision to develop technical skills across multiple FM disciplines.
Participate in training programs or on-the-job learning to become proficient in facility systems and maintenance practices.
