The Assistant Sushi Chef will support the Head Sushi Chef in preparing high quality sushi, maintaining kitchen standards, and ensuring smooth operations during service.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparing sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty items
Support in fish cutting, rice preparation, and daily mise-en-place
Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards in the kitchen
Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of fresh seafood
Follow recipes, presentation standards, and portion controls
Collaborate with the kitchen team during busy hours for efficient service
Assist in inventory management and report shortages to the Head Chef
Support menu development and seasonal specials when required
Required Skills & Qualifications
1-3 years of experience in sushi preparation.
Strong knife skills and understanding of raw fish handling
Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Attention to detail and commitment to food hygiene
Willingness to learn new techniques and grow in the role
