The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily food and beverage operations. This role ensures excellent customer service, smooth staff performance, and adherence to quality, hygiene, and safety standards. The Assistant Manager helps drive sales, control costs, and maintain a positive dining experience for all guests.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
Assist in supervising daily front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) operations.
Ensure restaurant cleanliness, ambiance, and presentation standards are consistently met.
Monitor food and beverage quality and service speed.
Oversee reservations, table management, and guest flow during peak hours.
Customer Service
Ensure guests receive prompt, friendly, and professional service.
Handle customer complaints and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Maintain high guest satisfaction scores and encourage repeat business.
Staff Supervision & Training
Support training of staff.
Schedule and manage shifts to ensure adequate coverage.
Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and enforce service standards.
Motivate the team to achieve sales and service goals.
Financial & Administrative Duties
Assist in monitoring sales, labor, and cost of goods to achieve budget targets.
Support inventory management and ordering of supplies.
Ensure compliance with cash handling procedures and POS systems.
Prepare operational reports as requested by the Restaurant Manager.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with health, safety.
Maintain licensing and legal requirements.
Conduct regular safety and hygiene inspections.
Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role in F&B.
Strong knowledge of restaurant operations and service standards.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with POS systems and basic MS Office tools.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Education & Experience
Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field preferred.
2-4 years of restaurant supervisory or assistant management experience.
Food safety certification is an advantage.
