Role Purpose

To support the Refrigeration Manager in ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and optimization of the company's cold chain facilities, including ammonia-based refrigeration plants, cold storage warehouses, and related systems. The role focuses on safeguarding product quality, minimizing downtime, ensuring safety compliance, and driving energy-efficient practices.

Key Responsibilities

Cold Chain Operations

Assist in overseeing day-to-day operation of industrial refrigeration systems (including ammonia plant). Ensure optimal temperature and humidity levels for storage of fruits and vegetables. Monitor and troubleshoot refrigeration equipment, control systems, compressors, condensers, and evaporators.

Maintenance & Repairs

Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules. Coordinate with technicians and contractors for servicing refrigeration equipment. Maintain spare parts inventory to avoid downtime.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with UAE HSE standards, HACCP, ISO, and municipality guidelines for cold storage facilities. Enforce safety protocols related to ammonia handling and emergency procedures. Conduct safety drills and training sessions for plant operators and technicians.

Energy Efficiency & Cost Control

Monitor energy consumption and optimize refrigeration system performance. Recommend upgrades or modifications for improved efficiency. Control maintenance costs through vendor negotiations and effective resource allocation.

People Management & Training

Supervise refrigeration technicians and operators. Provide training on safe handling of ammonia, refrigeration systems, and cold chain best practices. Support staff performance reviews and skills development.

Reporting & Documentation

Maintain accurate logs of system operations, breakdowns, and maintenance activities. Report daily/weekly operational status to Refrigeration Manager. Assist in preparing budgets for maintenance, energy use, and capital projects.

Skills & Qualifications

Diploma/Degree in Mechanical / Refrigeration Engineering. Minimum

5-7 years' experience

in industrial refrigeration, preferably in cold chain facilities or FMCG. Hands-on experience with

ammonia-based refrigeration plants

. Knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, and UAE HSE requirements. Strong troubleshooting, leadership, and vendor management skills. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced cold chain environment.
