The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (MACS) at Heriot-Watt University Dubai is seeking to make a further full-time appointment of an Assistant Professor in computer science. This post has arisen due to the ongoing development of the MACS portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes offered in Dubai, in line with the University\'s ambitious growth plans. The successful candidate will be required to deliver and assess computer science courses at the University\'s Dubai Campus. In addition, the position will require the undertaking of basic administrative duties, involvement in student recruitment activities and the supervision of student projects and dissertations. The successful applicant will hold a PhD in Computer Science. Previous teaching experience is essential. Programmes will be delivered in English and so fluency in English is also essential.

PhD in Computer Science
Relevant teaching experience at H.E. level
Ability to teach and supervise topics in a wide range of computer science / data science subjects
Excellent spoken, written and understanding of English
Relevant team-working and interpersonal skills
The ability to work flexibly and carry out teaching activities in the evenings and weekends
Desirable
The ability to take up the appointment in August 2023
Evidence of scholarship and/or research in computer science
Experience of working at a British university or experience of delivering British university programmes in other countries
An ability to identify and develop opportunities for personal and collective research
Teaching/research experience in one or more of the following areas
Games Programming.
Compilers
Functional programming in general, OCAML in particular.
Data visualisation.
