The Psychology Team in Dubai has built a strong reputation in the region and for our academic standards and links with the community. We offer two BSc (Hons) Psychology programmes and two MSc programmes in Business and Coaching Psychology with plans to develop new programmes at MSc level. In addition to this, we have recently launched our new MSc Business and Organisational Psychology online programme through Heriot Watt Online. As part of the dynamic growth for Psychology, we are aiming to recruit a colleague with a passion for teaching, research and outward facing professional engagement.

The School is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor (Grade 8) to help support our Dubai team in delivering our MSc Business Psychology programmes - both on-campus and online. The successful candidates will contribute to teaching and research in any areas related to our Psychology programmes, though priority may be given to candidates with a background in Business Psychology. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Psychology and have an interest in delivering a high-quality learning experience to postgraduate (and undergraduate where relevant) students. Teaching will involve a broad range of subject areas and programme content is developed collaboratively across campuses. Therefore, the ability to work with other faculty and adapt to new subject areas and material is critical for success. The role also requires student support duties such as mentoring, supervision and personal tutoring.

The Post holder will (appropriate to level and experience):

• Take an appropriate part in teaching activity and student support in the Department of Psychology and be able to demonstrate innovation in teaching delivery at postgraduate level, including business and psychology and related areas.
• Undertake administrative duties as it relates to teaching and management of our postgraduate programmes.
• Help to support and develop marketing events including off-campus events, media engagement and Open Days during weekends and evenings.
• Undertake research for publication and / or consulting activities of the Department and School through collaborative work across and beyond the University.

Essential Qualifications

• First degree and PhD in Psychology.
• Demonstrable record of successful performance in teaching, research, and community engagement, commensurate with Assistant Professor standing.
• A knowledge of UK Higher Education (or similar) would be desirable.
