Assistant Professor
Job Description
The Department of Geography and Urban Sustainability at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, lead GIS and Remote Sensing laboratories, and mentor students in spatial data analysis, environmental mapping, and geospatial modelling. Applicants are expected to have a strong applied background in geospatial technologies and the ability to integrate modern analytical tools such as AI, machine learning, and cloud-based platforms into teaching and research.
Minimum Qualification
- Ph.D. in Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, or Geospatial Science, or a closely related discipline from an accredited university. o Advanced expertise in geospatial analysis, satellite image processing, and spatial modelling using software such as ArcGIS Pro, ENVI, ERDAS Imagine, Google Earth Engine (GEE), and QGIS. o Strong ability to apply AI and Deep Learning techniques. o Experience with geospatial data processing and satellite images. o Excellent teaching and communication skills with a proven record of delivering applied training and laboratory instruction.
