Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and organized Assistant Public Relations Officer to support our growing communications team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our PR efforts, assisting in managing our public image, building media relationships, and executing communication strategies that enhance our brand reputation. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented communicator to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment and contribute to high-visibility projects.
Key Responsibilities
Media Relations & Outreach:

  • Assist in building and maintaining strong relationships with key media contacts, journalists, bloggers, and influencers.
  • Help draft, distribute, and track press releases, media alerts, and pitches.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile comprehensive press clippings reports.
  • Support the coordination of press conferences, interviews, and media briefings.
Content & Communication:
  • Contribute to the creation of engaging content for various channels, including press materials, newsletters, website copy, and social media posts.
  • Assist in developing presentations, speeches, and briefing documents for company spokespeople.
  • Help maintain the company's media kit and PR archive, ensuring all materials are up-to-date.
Administrative & Logistical Support:
  • Maintain the PR calendar, track deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitor PR activities, and media opportunities.
  • Manage PR inventory (e.g., promotional materials, samples for media).
  • Provide general administrative support to the PR/Comms team, including scheduling meetings and preparing reports.
Event Support:
  • Provide on-the-ground support for company events, product launches, and PR stunts.
  • Assist with event logistics, guest lists, and media registration.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and grammar.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with media databases (e.g., Cision, Muck Rack) and PR software.
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms and their role in integrated communications.
  • Experience with basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze media metrics and contribute to reports.
