RESPONSIBILITIES The role is primarily focused on the moral development and overall pastoral care and welfare of all students across the Secondary phase of the Academy, whilst also ensuring quality first teaching and the fostering of a fully inclusive learning culture and ethos that allows all students to make better than expected progress. General Responsibilities Lead the academy in achieving its overall vision and strategic intentions and to contribute to the achievement of relevant targets as set out in the academy's improvement plan and self-evaluation form Lead strategic direction and development of key areas of the Academy, including but not limited to setting the vision, analysing data, improvement planning, target setting and ongoing self-evaluation. Play a lead role in developing key policies and practices that support the Academy's overall aims, vision and values. To monitor the impact of relevant policies and practices. Create a culture of high aspirations. Lead and manage staff, including but not limited to overseeing recruitment, performance and professional development, duties. Efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources, including but not limited to budget planning, recruitment and retention of staff, safeguarding of students ensuring compliance with ADEK and BSO expectations. Lead on the marketing of key aspects of the Academy, raise the profile of the Academy, increase student numbers and ensure positive feedback from stakeholders. Communicate effectively and proactively with all stakeholders. To be an active member of the Academy's Senior Leadership Team and other staff teams as appropriate. To assist the Secondary Principal and Principal in shaping the direction of the Academy and setting high expectations at all times. To promote teamwork and motivate staff to ensure positive and effective working relationships To liaise with Aldar Education to support the strategic development of the Academy. To deputise in the absence of the Secondary Principal or as required. To undertake any additional responsibilities as delegated by the Secondary Principal or Principal. To take responsibility for own ongoing professional development and performance in line with key performance indicators. Key Responsibilities Strategic Direction: To lead on and develop the pastoral vision and culture across the secondary phase, which falls in line with whole Academy expectations. To ensure the Academy behaviour policy promotes good relationships and it complements the intended culture. To lead on student safety, safeguarding and wellbeing. To oversee inclusion in the pursuit of all students thrive. To lead on student transitions across key phases of their education. To lead on school community and developing stakeholder voice. To lead on key performance standards as directed.To lead on key areas of the SEF and SDP ensuring key improvement priorities are identified and actioned based on current research and evidence. To lead and oversee the pastoral MER and quality assurance processes and present an accurate and coherent account of the Academy's performance in relation to key performance standards to a range of audiences including governors and parents To effectively lead the Academy through external review and inspection in key performance standards. To promote positive relationships within and outside the Academy to ensure a cohesive school community, including but not limited to student admissions, Academy tours, Parent Information events, Parent Teacher Conferences and developing parent partnerships. To set the strategic direction for pastoral leads and Heads of Year to ensure all students are happy and thrive within the Academy. To work with the APs for Teaching and Learning and Curriculum and Achievement to provide quality provision that supports the whole child and ensures outstanding progress and attainment for all. To lead on and quality assure the pastoral communication with parents, including termly reports. To provide strategic direction and line manage the Head of Inclusion and school counsellors to ensure the delivery of pastoral and welfare support to students that exceeds the expectations of students, parents, and other stakeholders. To nurture a community where staff and students feel happy, safe, valued and supported and promote the well-being of staff and students through a holistic approach to well-being. Culture for Behaviour: To work with all stakeholders to set the vision and tone for the culture for behaviour in line with the Academy's overall vision. To review the behaviour policy to ensure it meets the needs of the Academy. To ensure high expectations for all staff in relation to the culture for behaviour and learning and provide CPD as required. To promote high expectations for all students and ensure the pastoral teams hold the holistic overview to ensure all students thrive. To raise achievement by continuing to improve attendance and punctuality to levels beyond outstanding. To lead on effective communication to parents regarding expectations of the Academy and ensure that staff, students and parents understand the Academy's expectations, and adhere to them. To quality assure provision and undertake regular learning walks and drop-ins as well as formal observations to ensure high standards across the Academy. To quality assure the student leadership programme and ensure that leadership opportunities are offered to meet the needs of all students. Leading and managing staff: To coach and mentor teachers and leaders to significantly improve their professional performance and practice. Act as Child Protection Officer and safeguarding lead coordinating CPD as required. To lead on the induction of new students and families to the Academy ensuring high quality information and services are provided by the relevant departments in a timely manner. To quality assure the provision in place by the school counsellors. To lead on House across the secondary phase ensuring outstanding experiences for students that creates a community spirit and sense of belonging across the Academy. To recruit and select high calibre teaching and support staff. Lead on new staff induction from a wellbeing perspective, including but not limited to a buddy system and social gatherings. To co-lead the Al Yasmina parent group, Yalla Yasmina To line manage staff as directed. Managing Resources: To oversee key events that fall outside of the core curriculum including but not limited to house events, student celebrations, work experience, national day, international day, events run by the Academy's parent group To lead on Parent Teacher conferences and incorporate quality assurance mechanisms. CATS/Admission and Transfers for new students, liaising with Admissions and the PRE as necessary. To lead on the Academy sustainability programme and commit to advancing this area of our vision further, including but not limited to achieving the full Green flag status. To lead on the secondary school recognition and rewards policy for both staff and students To lead on staff and student planners Organising and managing the staff duty rota as required To lead on a social media strategy to promote key successes of the academy.

Bachelor's Degree in education or BSc/BA degree with PGCE or equivalent is essential. Masters or NPQSL desirable At least 6 years teaching experience, including 4 consecutive years of performance exceeding standards and expectations as evidenced by performance appraisal. At least 2 years' experience in a Middle Leadership role. Experience of leading school initiatives that have led to significant improvement in standards and achievement. Experience working with parents and external agencies. Candidates are expected to have excellent knowledge across all core areas; pastoral; curriculum; assessment; inclusion; teaching and learning, with a specific focus on appointing a candidate with outstanding values, leadership and people skills. Prepared to work within a flat leadership model and facilitate innovation, creativity and change within the Academy. A commitment to maximising achievement through excellence in teaching and learning. An excellent track record as a teacher and school leader. An excellent track record of implementing effective strategies to raise standards in learning. High standards and a highly effective communicator. A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check.
