What Does an Assistant Planner Do?
As an Assistant Planner, you will support the Planning Manager in managing OTB (Open to Buy), stock flow, and allocation activities for multiple stores. This role ensures accurate intake planning, data-driven replenishment, timely promotional execution, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive sales and profitability.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Monitor and manage OTB planning and cash flow projections
- Extract and analyze business data to support merchandise planning activities
- Track product intake across 12-month cycles and align with budgets
- Coordinate with allocation and buying teams to ensure correct stock flow and timely store delivery
- Support seasonal product launches, promotions, and markdown implementation
- Assist in price updates and ensure compliance with market-specific regulations
- Generate weekly trade reports, availability updates, and stock movement analysis
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to align on stock issues, delays, and optimization plans
What Skills Are Required for a Planning Role in the UAE?
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Retail Management (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in retail planning or merchandise planning
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
- Familiarity with SAP is a plus
