Curriculum Development: Lead the development and implementation of a rich and developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with Primary statutory requirements and best practices in education. Collaborate with teachers to design engaging and inclusive learning experiences that support children's holistic development across all areas of learning.
Staff Supervision and Development: Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to Primary teachers. Conduct regular observations, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and promote continuous improvement.
Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of teaching and learning, ensuring that standards are maintained and performance targets are met. Conduct regular assessments, track student progress, and implement strategies to address areas for improvement.
Parent and Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with parents and families of students, serving as a point of contact for communication, feedback, and collaboration. Organize parent workshops, information sessions, and community events to promote parental involvement and support children's learning at home.
Child Welfare and Safeguarding: Ensure the safety, well-being, and welfare of all children within the department. Implement safeguarding policies and procedures, conduct risk assessments, and respond promptly and effectively to any safeguarding concerns or incidents.
Resource Management: Manage resources, materials, and facilities within the department effectively, ensuring that they are used efficiently to support teaching and learning. Identify budgetary needs, plan resource allocation, and make recommendations for investment in educational resources and equipment.
Collaboration and Leadership: Work collaboratively with other members of the senior leadership team, including the Head Teacher and other Assistant Head Teachers, to promote the overall vision and goals of the school. Lead by example, demonstrate professionalism, and contribute to a positive school culture.
Skills
Substantial experience teaching within Primary, with a deep understanding of early childhood development and learning.
Leadership experience or demonstrated potential for leadership roles within an educational setting.
Knowledge of statutory framework, assessment frameworks, and best practices in education.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, colleagues, and stakeholders.
Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in education.
Familiarity with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child welfare, safeguarding, and health and safety.
Ability to lead and motivate a team of staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
Willingness to engage in professional development activities and stay abreast of current trends and research in early childhood education.
