The Assistant Cook supports the kitchen team in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food items in accordance with established recipes, quality standards, and food safety regulations. The role requires assisting senior kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations, cleanliness, and timely service.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals as per menu plans, recipes, and instructions from the Head Cook or Chef.
Perform basic food preparation tasks such as washing, cutting, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
Support in cooking simple dishes under supervision.
Ensure proper food handling, storage, and labeling in compliance with hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP).
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, kitchen equipment, and storage areas at all times.
Assist in receiving, checking, and storing food supplies and ingredients.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and company policies related to kitchen operations.
Support timely food service during peak hours and events.
Report any equipment malfunction, food quality issues, or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
Assist in minimizing food waste and maintaining cost control practices.
Cooperate with other kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications & Skills
Basic knowledge of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and food preparation techniques.
Understanding of food hygiene, safety, and sanitation practices.
Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
Good time management and organizational skills.
Physically fit and able to stand for long periods and handle kitchen tasks.
Team-oriented with a positive and cooperative attitude.
