Job Summary

The Assayer will be responsible for conducting precise testing and analysis of gold and other precious metals using standard laboratory techniques. The role requires strong expertise in fire assay, XRF spectroscopy, and cuppelation methods to ensure accurate determination of metal purity. The position demands high attention to detail, adherence to safety and quality standards, and thorough documentation and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Perform fire assay techniques in accordance with industry best practices and laboratory standards. Operate, calibrate, and maintain XRF spectroscopy equipment for elemental and purity analysis. Conduct cuppelation methods to accurately determine precious metal content. Manage day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of test procedures, observations, and results. Prepare and submit timely and accurate assay reports for internal departments and external clients as required. Ensure all laboratory instruments and equipment are properly calibrated, maintained, and functioning efficiently. Follow laboratory safety protocols, compliance requirements, and quality control guidelines at all times.

Mandatory Requirements

Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry

(mandatory).

Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in a gold testing laboratory

. Proven experience as an Assayer or Laboratory Technician in the bullion, jewellery, mining, or precious metals industry. Strong practical knowledge of fire assay, XRF analysis, and cuppelation techniques. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and analytical skills. Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills. Ability to work independently, handle pressure, and meet strict reporting timelines.
