Job Purpose

\xe2\x80\x8bTo design new buildings, extensions or alterations to existing buildings, or advise on the restoration and conservation of old properties to support creating an appropriate environment for staff and students at the University of Sharjah.\xe2\x80\x8b

Main accountabilities & expectations

• Review and understand all relevant policies and procedures in order to be able to carry out daily work tasks as expected, and answer all stakeholder inquiries, clarifications, or any assistance related to Planning and Projects Section accurately and efficiently.
• Perform professional architectural projects for University facilities such as creating designs, plan modifications and prepare project proposals. As well as filing and archiving technical drawings (soft and hard copies).
• Manages the UoS facility design modifications, presentations, plans and archived documentations.
• Provides initial and final design proposals for additional buildings, facility modifications and future projects, and prepares tender applications and presentations.
• Conducts site surveys, data collection and progress reports regarding university buildings highlighting recommendations for potential improvement as necessary.
• Assist in preparing project BOQ\'s and technical specifications of project proposals. In addition to preparing technical evaluations and project descriptions to support the Procurement and Finance departments.
• Manage architectural and construction projects through regular site visits and helps to coordinate contractors by providing project descriptions, analysis and coordinates between them and end users as well as resolving problems or issues proactively during construction.
• Prepare technical evaluations and project descriptions to support the procurement, contracts and finance departments.
• Produce detailed drawings and specifications of architectural projects, and files and organizes technical soft and hardcopies drawings.
• Review civil aspects of the project and coordinates with the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing/Facility Engineers technical information needed for their operations.
• Provide the necessary assistance and support to the line manager and other team members in ensuring the department/college KPIs are achieved successfully by gathering the necessary data, preparing progress reports, and help in implementing the approved action plans.
• Represent the Department in communications with other departments in ongoing and future project developments.
• Ensure that Health and Safety standards are implemented at all times, and reporting any matters of concern to the line manager and/or related personnel in order to take action.\xe2\x80\x8b

Required Skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
• Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
• Strong knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
• Demonstrate a good understanding of operating the required software/hardware (e.g. AutoCad).
• Project and time management skills.
• Visual awareness and eye for detail.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and produce reports under strict guidelines.
• High integrity and openness combined with commitment to good governance.
• Inquisitive mind and passion for excellence.
• Works as a competent member of the team, willingly providing backup support for co-workers when appropriate and actively supporting group goals.\xe2\x80\x8b

Desirable Requirements

• Minimum of bachelor\'s degree in Architecture or a relevant Engineering discipline.
• 4-6 years of UAE experience in similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
• Portfolio of example work relevant to the requirements of UOS.
• Priority is to UAE Nationals.\xe2\x80\x8b
