Accountant
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to manage and maintain accurate financial records, ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations, and provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of financial processes, excellent analytical skills, and proficiency in accounting software.
Responsibilities:
Financial Record-Keeping:
Record and classify financial transactions, including revenues, expenses, assets, and liabilities.
Maintain and update general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements (profit and loss), and cash flow statements, in compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
Generate various financial reports for management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
Monitor budget versus actual spending and performance, providing variance analysis and recommendations.
Tax Compliance:
Compute taxes owed and prepare accurate tax returns (corporate, individual, sales, payroll, etc.).
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Stay updated on changes in tax legislation.
Auditing and Internal Controls:
Conduct internal audits of financial records and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Assist with external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
Identify potential financial risks and recommend solutions.
Payroll and Expense Management (if applicable):
Process payroll, calculate wages, withholdings, and deductions.
Manage expense reports and ensure proper documentation.
Financial Analysis and Advisory:
Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and profit improvement.
Support financial planning and strategic decision-making.
Analyze financial performance against key metrics and industry benchmarks.
Other Duties:
Maintain confidentiality of financial data and conduct database backups.
Collaborate effectively with other departments and team members.
Continuously seek to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
