- Responsible for preparing financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, tailored to the industry\'s reporting standards and regulations.
- Track and analyse costs related to exploration, drilling, production, transportation, and refining of oil and gas. This includes allocating costs to specific projects or wells.
- Deal with complex revenue recognition processes, often based on production volumes, sales contracts, and fluctuating commodity prices.
- Manage tax liabilities and the tax incentives and complexities that can vary by location. Accountants work to optimize tax strategies while ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Ensure that financial practices and reporting adhere to industry-specific regulations and accounting standards, such as those set by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) or the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
