The Academic Officer assists the Academic Dean as well as the Assistant Deans for Graduate and Undergraduate Programs. The Academic Officer will be a proactive problem solver with exceptional communication skills and meticulous attention to detail, performing administrative duties and providing confidential support to the management.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of supporting the Academic Department to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished, and operations run efficiently.
Create and update semester schedules. To include weekly updates, and the organization of special schedules depending on events on the Academic Calendar.
Assist with the faculty workload planning for the semester.
Create new Moodle courses each semester and populate accordingly.
Assist staff and students with Moodle queries.
Co-ordinate and organize Visiting Lecturers. Liaise with HR for the contracts.
Assist with the organization of Graduate Study trips.
Liaise with procurement for student outings.
Create and maintain the Academic Calendar.
Take minutes at academic meetings (including Academic Committee, Program Committee, Progression/Award Boards, and Faculty Council).
Prepare the exam supervision schedules.
Handle bookings for all classrooms/meeting rooms.
Ad Hoc projects from semester to semester (NECHE, Swiss Accreditation)
Any other general day-to-day faculty assistance and organisation.
Education and Professional Qualifications:
A Hospitality or Business qualification or equivalent
Experience:
Experience in Higher Education
Experience either in reception, guest relations, service, or administrative post
Experience of working with young adults preferable
Experience of multicultural environments preferable
Knowledge and Skills:
Empathetic personality and good team player
Strong communication and organisational skills
Service-orientated and independent worker.
Pro-active, flexible, and enthusiastic personality
Internet, MS Office, and database
* Excellent spoken and written English essential, Arabic desirable
