Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day to day workshop operations, ensuring repair and maintenance tasks are carried out efficiently, safely, and to high quality standards. The role involves supervising workshop staff, managing workload distribution, maintaining tools and inventory, and ensuring timely completion of jobs to meet customer and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision & Leadership

Manage and supervise workshop technicians, mechanics, and helpers. Assign daily tasks and monitor performance to ensure work is completed on time. Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to staff.

Workshop Operations

Plan, schedule, and oversee all repair, service, and maintenance work. Ensure all jobs are carried out safely and according to company standards. Inspect and test completed jobs to ensure quality and reliability.

Resource & Inventory Management

Monitor and maintain adequate stock of spare parts, tools, and consumables. Coordinate with the store/inventory team for timely availability of required parts. Ensure proper usage, care, and storage of workshop tools and equipment.

Health & Safety Compliance

Enforce workshop safety rules and ensure compliance with company policies. Conduct regular safety checks and risk assessments in the workshop. Report any hazards, incidents, or unsafe practices immediately.

Administration & Reporting

Maintain job cards, service records, and daily progress reports. Track staff attendance, overtime, and work allocation. Prepare regular reports on workshop performance, productivity, and challenges.

Customer & Team Coordination

Liaise with customers (internal or external) regarding job progress and completion. Work closely with management and other departments to ensure smooth workflow.

Qualifications & Skills:

Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems (as applicable). Leadership and team management skills. Good communication and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple jobs simultaneously. Knowledge of workshop safety standards and practices.
