The Workshop Manager is responsible for supervising technical staff, managing resources, maintaining service records, and implementing preventative maintenance schedules, while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards to support the companyaEUR(TM)s operational goals. Job Responsibilities Oversee the routine maintenance, servicing, and repair of all fleet vehicles to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency. Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules. Ensure all vehicles meet safety and operational standards. Supervise and coordinate activities of workshop staff including mechanics, technicians, and support personnel. Conduct training and skills development programs to enhance team capabilities. Manage staffing schedules and delegate tasks effectively. Workshop Operations Plan and monitor workshop workflows to minimize vehicle downtime. Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and workshop facilities. Enforce health and safety procedures in the workshop. Inventory & Parts Management Manage inventory of spare parts and workshop supplies to avoid shortages or overstocking. Liaise with suppliers to source high-quality parts at competitive prices. Maintain accurate records of parts usage and orders. Budgeting & Cost Control Monitor workshop expenses and ensure cost-effective operations. Prepare and manage the workshop budget in alignment with the companyaEUR(TM)s financial goals. Documentation & Reporting Maintain detailed service records for each vehicle in the fleet. Generate reports on maintenance performance, costs, and downtime. Use fleet management software to track work orders and maintenance history. Compliance & Quality Control Ensure compliance with all local transport regulations and environmental standards. Conduct quality checks on all completed work to uphold high repair standards. Coordinate with external service providers for specialized repairs or warranty claims. Communicate with operations and logistics teams to prioritize vehicle availability. Qualifications: Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related technical field. Additional certifications in fleet management, automotive diagnostics, or workshop management are a plus. Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of hands-on experience in Heavy vehicle maintenance and repair. At least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a workshop or fleet maintenance environment.
