Job Title: Wheel Loader Shovel Operator
Department: Construction / Mining / Quarry / Logistics
Reports To: Site Supervisor / Operations Manager
Summary:
The Wheel Loader Shovel Operator is responsible for operating heavy machinery to move, load, and handle various materials such as dirt, gravel, sand, demolition debris, and aggregate. The operator ensures the efficient and safe movement of materials to support site operations.
Key Responsibilities:

• Operate a wheel loader/shovel to lift, move, and load materials.
• Feed materials into processing plants (e.g., crushers, screens) and load materials into trucks or onto conveyors.
• Perform stockpiling, grading, and light excavation tasks as directed.
• Conduct pre-start equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance (e.g., greasing, checking fluid levels, cleaning tracks).
• Report any mechanical issues or required repairs to the maintenance department.
• Work in coordination with truck drivers, ground personnel, and other equipment operators to maintain a smooth workflow.
• Adhere to all site-specific safety rules and regulations, including trench safety and working near utilities.
• Keep accurate records of materials moved and hours operated.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a wheel loader or heavy equipment operator.
• Certification from an accredited heavy equipment operation program is a strong asset.
• In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance practices.
• Understanding of soil types, grading, and basic earthmoving principles.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong focus on safety and situational awareness.
