Job Description

GENERAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for welding components to assemble structural forms such as cylinder racks, cylinder baskets, industrial gases manifolds, and industrial gas pipelines using knowledge and techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements. This Job is a Contract of 6 months JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs the following tasks: a) Track weld or weld components and assemblies, using tig, electric, arc, or other welding equipment. b) Melts lead bar wire or scrap to add lead joint or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form. c) Observes test on welded surfaces and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specification d) Weld components in the flat, vertical, or overhead position e) Heats components and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch or arc welding equipment. f) Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or to obtain desired flame or arc. g) Determine required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of welding techniques 2. Perform the following job Activities: a) Handling and moving objects- using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials and manipulating things b) Controlling machines and processes- using either control mechanism or direct physical activity to operate machines c) Performs general physical activity that requires considerable use of arms and legs and moving the body such as balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials d) Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects 3. Check the materials issued to match the requirements of the drawings and work order information sheet. 4. Ensures that the relevant info and paperwork associated with the work order is available prior information sheet. 5. Demonstrates high standard safety awareness and housekeeping 6. Check all welding consumables issued are correct against specifications available 7. Record and complete paperwork associated with work to be finished. 8. Supports and promotes the objective of the company 9. Attends and participates actively in Quality, Safety, and environmental programs of the company 10. Reports to immediate superior all non-conforming materials and services received for use in his areas or operations and include recommendations for corrections. 11. Reports problems encountered for new processes or changes and include suggestions to resolve the same 12. Attends all training required in his job and consistently applies to the job assigned all training and re-training received relative to his work 13. Performs other duties which might be assigned as a support to the department' Objectives. Skills: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs and maintenance Equipment Selection- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Quality Control Analysis- Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance. Equipment Maintenance- perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Repairing machines or systems using needed tools. Arm steadiness- Ability to keep hand and arm steady Manual Dexterity- Ability to quickly move the hand Written comprehension- ability to read and understand information and drawings Good eye vision Job Type: Contract
