Job Summary:

The Watchman will be responsible for protecting our premises, assets, and personnel. You will maintain a visible presence to deter illegal and inappropriate actions, conduct regular patrols, and monitor surveillance equipment. The ideal candidate is a vigilant, observant, and professional individual who takes pride in ensuring the safety and security of the property.

Key Responsibilities:

Patrol and Inspection:

Conduct regular foot patrols of the building, grounds, and perimeter according to a set schedule. Check for signs of damage, trespassing, unsafe conditions, or security breaches.

Access Control:

Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. Issue visitor badges and maintain access logs.

Surveillance:

Operate and monitor all security systems, including CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and access control gates.

Incident Reporting:

Write detailed, accurate reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences. Contact emergency services (police, fire, EMS) if required.

Emergency Response:

Respond quickly to alarms and calls for assistance. Take appropriate action as needed in accordance with established procedures.

Customer Service:

Provide a professional and helpful presence, offering directions and assistance to employees and visitors when needed.

Policy Enforcement:

Enforce company policies and procedures related to security and safety.

Light Maintenance:

May perform minor light duties such as turning lights on/off, locking and unlocking doors, and reporting maintenance needs.

Qualifications and Skills:

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience as a Watchman, Security Guard, or in a similar role. Ability to pass a background check. Strong observation and surveillance skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear reporting. Physical ability to walk, stand, and patrol for extended periods. Basic computer skills for writing reports and operating surveillance systems.

Preferred:

Valid security guard license/certification as required by the state. First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Knowledge of public safety and security protocols. Experience with CCTV and alarm systems.

Work Environment & Schedule:

This position may require working nights, weekends, and holidays. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditions. Must be able to remain alert and focused for long periods.
