Introduction Our client is an exciting blockchain based tech start-up building a metaverse to enhance the human experience whilst leveraging extended reality, blockchain, and cloud technologies. The company They're a globally distributed team of futurists and tinkerers building the most robust metaverse ecosystem in the blockchain space and they need a rockstar Lead Unreal Engine Programmer to take us to the next level. The role As a Lead Programmer Unreal, she/he will be expected to manage/supervise other programmers which may involve project planning, task management and mentorship. The role also focuses on the complex and large software systems that comprise an organisation's core systems. To ensure that all needs are met, she/he must have an extensive amount of knowledge. • Drive the VH programming team at a technical and personnel level
• Determine the tech needs for the team
• Balance staying on top of the code base/tech
• Manage requirements and responsibilities
• Help establish clear coding best practices and lead regular code reviews.
• Coordinate, mentor and build a cohesive programming team
• Ensure the creation of strong technical documentation
• Work with the production, programmers, design, and art leads to create task and schedule estimates for programming team and track development efforts across the team

Skills and Experience

• 5+ yrs. experience in the Game industry is mandatory
• Excellent working knowledge of Unreal Engine, from its tools and workflow to end to end development
• Guide features through the full development cycle
• Expert in C++ programming language
• Strong understanding of multithreaded/parallel programming
• Strong self-management and organisation skills
• Continually review the game and development process and identify areas that need improvement
• Deep experience of MMO RPG game design principles from social engagement, economics, user journey analysis and story-telling
• An interest and enthusiasm for crypto and blockchain technology Metaverse & Blockchain Gaming
• A proven track record in a creative leadership role to enable you to mentor, direct and advise the team at all levels and disciplines
• Ability to think quickly and help the production management team to solve problems
• Helping the business grow through the success of its games and other projects
• 1 - 3 yrs. experience with cross platform development as a Senior Programmer or Lead Programmer
• Interest and experience in at least 2 aspects of game technology development (audio, 3D, animation, gameplay, UI, network and tools)
• Candidate should be self-motivated, with strong work ethic and excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate and work well with other disciplines
• Excellent code review skills

Nice to have

• Experience with VR/AR development and other programming languages (ie. C++, Python) is a plus
• Experience with blockchain games or having shipped mobile, standalone or PCVR title is a plus
• Experience working with the Unreal networking infrastructure
• Experience working with modifying, forking or building plugins for Unreal Engine using Python and/or C++
• Experience with procedural workflows and software such as Houdini Engine
• Knowledgeable in refactoring, optimisation and graphics pipeline
