JOB PURPOSE:

The Group Fraud Risk & Investigations function is part of the group\'s Risk Management function and provides second line Fraud Risk oversight for the firm\'s front office and support / control functions.

The role of Head of Fraud Risk Mitigation Strategy is to manage a team of Fraud Strategy Managers tasked with developing fraud strategies for the Bank\'s higher-risk products, channels and services. To oversee fraud risk assessments and harmonization of fraud strategies. To work closely with the business during product design and development phases, ensuring that appropriate fraud mitigation measures are adopted to adequately mitigate fraud risk while supporting business objectives within the Bank\'s risk appetite.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Strategic Contribution
  • Ensure effective cascading of the functional strategy into department business plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departmental strategies.
People Management
  • Manage the effective achievement of assigned objectives through the leadership of the Fraud Strategy function by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff to maximise sectional performance.
  • Lead the talent development initiatives for the function, collaborating with technical/discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
  • Act as a role model and drive adherence to organisational values and ethics by employees of the function to foster a value driven culture within the bank.
Budgeting and Financial Planning
  • Manage the preparation and recommend the department budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget while ensuring all sectional activities are conducted in line with the approved guidelines.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
  • Manage and ensure effective implementation of fraud management functional policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned department activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements, fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
Continuous Improvement
  • Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.
Reporting
  • Ensure that the function prepares reports timely and accurately meeting FAB requirements, policies and quality standards.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualification
  • A Bachelor\'s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Law, or similar field. A relevant Master\'s Degree or MBA is considered an advantage.
  • Relevant industry certifications e.g., CFA, FRM, CFE, CAMS etc. are preferred.
Minimum Experience
  • 10+ years\' relevant experience in the banking sector with a proven track record of developing and implementing strategies to mitigate fraud across core banking products and channels.
  • 5+ years\' leadership experience managing a team of people.
Technical Competencies
  • Excellent knowledge of banking products, channels, services and associated fraud risks.
  • Hands on experience in the application of technology to mitigate fraud risks
  • Very strong analytical skills and ability to translate data insights into actionable fraud strategies.
  • Strong, communication and presentation skills to engage and influence diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Excellent understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements related to fraud risk management.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to align fraud strategies whilst supporting business objectives.
  • Experience in managing senior internal/external stakeholders e.g., business, audit, regulators
