JOB PURPOSE:

The incumbent will be a core member of the Investment Banking Group (IBG) Compliance team.

The focus of the role is
  • to provide IB and GM Compliance support, advice, monitoring, engagement, and collaboration which ultimately drives systems and controls to enable the Business and Compliance teams to execute against their mandate in line with laws, regulations and best practice.
  • To work with the Head of IBG Compliance on the ongoing transformation of IBG Compliance, this will include oversight of Risk Assessments, Monitoring, BIAs, RCSAs, FLOD oversight and alike which impact the other areas of IBG Compliance which are, Global Banking Coverage and Global Corporate Finance and the Global Markets Business
This is a senior role within IBG Compliance with a wide mandate where the incumbent will be expected to advise and support senior management on a regular basis.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Work in collaboration with the IB & GMGT Compliance teams and provide advice on regulatory gaps (in partnership with Regulatory Compliance and FCC team), compliance and other aspects in relation to business strategy and new business initiatives with an ability to develop solutions that meet various internal and external requirements driving synergy, streamlining and governance
  • Align to the business mandate and capture risks before they can formalize
  • Work in close collaboration with Global Markets, Global Corporate Finance and Coverage Compliance colleagues on potential escalatory measures
  • Escalate and manage potential Private Side Compliance commitments
  • Ensure Public Side anticipatory risk can be captured
  • Have insight into and work with Control Room and Surveillance teams to ensure there is a succinct and close oversight to pre and post transaction matters
  • Collaborate with Regulatory Compliance on any aspect of regulation, primarily in relation to any obligations around regulatory approvals or disclosure
  • Set up frameworks and governance, where applicable, with key Compliance and business partners to enable the smooth oversight of various Compliance matters
  • Provide clear and concise training on a periodic basis to ensure all stakeholders align to a minimum standard of compliance awareness and process
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with key stakeholders which will reflect ongoing oversight of the IB and GM businesses
  • Advise on the rollout and implementation of Group-wide Compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provide proactive business advice on policy initiatives, projects, new business developments and process improvements to all areas of IBG and GM ensuring consistent approaches where applicable
  • There will be an expectation and requirement that the incumbent undertakes, delivers and executes on key BAU with the wider IBG Compliance team where appropriate
  • Ongoing liaison and partnership with International Compliance, Financial Crime Compliance and Regulatory Compliance teams to ensure the business is following the latest regulations and best practice
  • Maintain and build an effective relationship with the business so that effective and proactive escalation of issues is condcuted and risk managed
  • Support the IBG business in adherence to Group Compliance policies, procedures and processes and assist business management to ensure fulfilment of its regulatory responsibilities with day to day support where required.
  • Participate in key compliance initiatives and monitor Compliance-related projects
  • Produce and review relevant MI and information prior to submission to Governance Committees and senior management
  • Deliver and execute on key agreed initiatives impacting the wider Group Compliance function
  • Lead, oversee and input into relevant annual and periodic assessments and governance (such as Data reporting to regulatory bodies, RCSA, Risk Assessments, BCPs etc\xe2\x80\xa6)
  • Support the IB business in the successful roll out of the FLOD function ensuring Compliance oversight where applicable synergising and partnering with the first, second and third level of defence areas
  • Execute other duties as directed by the IBG Head of Compliance
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years\' experience in financial services Compliance
  • Exposure to buy-side Compliance is highly beneficial
  • Strong knowledge of Private and Public Side Investment Banking areas (M&A, ECM, DCM, Sales, Trading\xe2\x80\xa6)
  • Good knowledge of international laws, regulations and rules which impact Investment Banking
  • Knowledge of UAE regulation would be highly beneficial
  • Experience in leading and managing compliance initiatives to execution (e.g. Reporting, Risk Assessment\xe2\x80\xa6)
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to support decisions with sound reasoning
  • Excellent communication skills, as the role requires constant communication with other functions within the Group
  • Fluent in English
