Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: Manage and lead the preparedness, development, and implementation of the portfolio of ADNOC Group climate response strategic enablers, policies, and programs to future proof risks to the company and leverage disruptive growth for ADNOC to win in the energy transition. Foster a collaborative approach and shared accountabilities to deliver mainstream, accelerated actions in all businesses and functions because climate-response is a pervasive disruptive growth opportunity across ADNOC.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Climate Change Management Provide counsel to the Senior Management on critical energy transition and climate response issues to ensure effective decision-making and climate risk and opportunities management in support of the Group's transformation plan. Provide climate and energy transition insights, knowledge, and input to ADNOC Leadership briefings, announcements, stakeholder engagement meetings and related communications. Manage the development and monitor implementation of the ADNOC Group carbon strategy, enabling policies, and focused execution support in line with corporate strategic objectives to deliver opportunities to future proof the business and win in the energy transition. Manage and support the development and nurturing of strong national and international government relations, working in harmony with the UAE Climate Envoy office and other Government agencies, to ensure ADNOC is recognised as a leading contributor to the UAE Net Zero strategic initiative, and has a world-class climate response and energy transition profile. Monitor and advise ADNOC Leadership on physical climate science developments, impacts, vulnerabilities, mitigation, and adaptation implications for ADNOC and its key markets. Coordinate, guide, and report internal carbon management programs and activities to ensure consistency, transparency, and effectiveness of ADNOC and Group of Companies delivery of future-proofed, carbon competitive targets, products, assets, and projects. Lead climate-related, carbon competitive policy development internally on key carbon topics to provide guidance on carbon competitive risks and opportunities and advise on market enablers. Provide expert advice on climate-related disclosures to ensure best practices and, working with the finance team, support attraction of sustainable finance and investment opportunities. Engage and advocate externally for incentivized external policies and supportive regulatory environment locally, nationally, and internationally to provide opportunities for ADNOC develop opportunities to win in the energy transition. Role model ADNOC climate change externally through strategic partnerships and high-profile engagements to share ADNOC's climate leadership and enhance ADNOC external communications, marketing, and brand value. Establish and ensure maintenance of positive relationships and cooperative arrangements between the Group and wide spectrum of international climate change commentators to drive positive climate profile of ADNOC and the UAE.

Life Cycle Assessment Oversee and govern the development of policies, planning, tools, and guidance for integrating life cycle environment and health considerations across the Group while seeking ways to fully incorporate the value of key attributes such as resilience, greenhouse gas reductions, and environmental preservation. Drive assessments of potential life cycle environmental impacts across ADNOC Group by application of a range of life cycle assessment (LCA) and other related methodologies (e.g., attributional, consequential, benchmarking, and input/output techniques). Guide the development and implementation of effective guidance and tools for application of sustainability, LCA, and life cycle costing techniques and lead assessments on environmental impacts and economic benefits.

Technical authority/ Advisory: Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide direction, support and best in class advice in the fields of climate change response, carbon management and carbon competitiveness across the value chain. This includes advice on the establishment of internal controls, processes and systems where applicable to ensure: Monitoring of developments in climate-related scenarios and carbon pricing globally. Climate-related energy transition goals and objectives are effectively managed. Carbon competitiveness is integrated into core and decision-making processes. Timely reporting of carbon competitive performance and analytics. Improvement of organizational carbon competitiveness is driven and validated. Support to develop ADNOC's low-emissions product portfolio, with major focus on hydrogen carriers, low carbon crude and fuels, related certification, and product foot printing. Technical advice to ADNOC Group and subsidiaries, assets, and operating companies to support carbon management programs and activities and provide centralised advice on topics including life cycle analysis, reporting methodologies, and carbon competitiveness. Development of circular natural solutions for carbon capture, bioenergy, and monetising biodiversity in collaboration with technology and sustainability teams. Partner with businesses and central functions across ADNOC Group, to provide direction on carbon management and to develop an integrated and coordinated carbon competitiveness roadmap to achieve 2030 climate change commitments, and beyond. Facilitate and incubate and mature disruptive opportunities to grow commercial, new 'net zero' energy markets in multiple energy demand sectors, by connecting ADNOC to global initiatives and partnerships that connect the dots between government, industry, and finance first movers.

Enabler of change (unification / standardization / digitalization / cost optimization) Act as enabler of change: Internally: network internally cross-business and functionally Via Community of Practices. Externally: via establishing and maintaining relationship with international oil companies, key stakeholders, industrial bodies, associations, and other groups to develop opportunities. Lead unification and standardization of carbon management across the value chain. Develop and implement state-of-the-art innovative solutions that will modernize and digitize effective implementation of ADNOC carbon competitiveness programs. Assist development of the Group's digital carbon emissions measurement, reporting and verification strategy, related execution plans, digital platforms, emissions reporting, etc. to improve ready access to emissions abatement performance, forecasting and decision-making. Identify opportunities for carbon competitive cost optimizations and carbon efficiency. Catalyse regional carbon markets, engage with international emissions trading community, and incubate environmental product trading capability in ADNOC to monetise emissions reductions through voluntary carbon markets, or other instruments in partnership with others. Provide expert carbon capture and storage climate-related policy and business models, external technology, and partnership support to ADNOC businesses and functions to develop 'net zero' industrial cluster and other commercial carbon storage opportunities. Support In-Country Value team with suppliers to create 'net zero' supply chain opportunities.

Skill Pool Development: Role model ADNOC climate change internally, engage with staff via carbon events. Identify and develop carbon-related future skills and competency framework. Build carbon community of practice and carbon competitive leadership program to mature local capability. Build capabilities and lead carbon community of practice development of climate change and carbon expertise across ADNOC Group, with specific focus on UAE Nationals. Develop ADNOC talent using external engagement opportunities to build capability, skills and knowledge of climate change responses, carbon management and energy transition.

Sustainability & Climate Change Culture Transformation: Support the development and implementation of ADNOC's Sustainability & Climate Change culture transformation strategies as required. Participate in deep dive reviews on GCs/ BLDs Sustainability & Climate Change risks insights and provide expert input related to performance (including abnormalities against leading, lagging, and dashboard) in the fields of Sustainability. Participate and support Sustainability & Climate Change programs and communications as appropriate.

Operational Plans Develop consistent and realistic long and short term operational plans for the Division in line with the Function objectives and manage the implementation of approved long and short term plans and ensure they are effectively converted into its performance objectives to achieve established service levels.

Budgets & Cost Control Develop and manage the Division annual budget in line with the Function's business objectives and operational plans ensuring that adequate funding provision is made for all Division activities. Monitor expenditure against approved Division budget on a regular basis; investigate, highlight and reconcile any significant variances to ensure effective performance and cost control.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures Develop and implement appropriate Division policies, processes, systems, standards, procedures and internal controls, Company guidelines in order to support execution of the Directorate's work programs in line with Company and International standards.

Performance Management Contribute to the development of the Directorate's KPI's and ensure proper cascade of the Performance objectives within the Division and establish monitoring mechanisms to ensure delivery of these objectives and promote a performance driven culture. Manage the implementation of the Company Performance Management System for individuals within the Division in accordance with Company approved guidelines. People Development Develop knowledge, competencies and innovative spirit in the Division and support the establishment of Personal Development Plans (PDP's), Succession Planning and Talent pipeline within the Division in coordination with relevant Human Capital Functions to continuously develop employees with emphasis on UAE Nationals to meet Emiratization targets.

Organisation Structure and Development Review, develop and recommend the appropriate organisation structure for the Division that will best utilise human capital while proactively incorporating sustainability into the on-going work practices to meet the business objectives.

Risk Management Contribute and support establishment of a Corporate Integrated Risk Management System within the Division, while identifying and assessing relevant domain risks and implement measures to manage and mitigate all identified risks within the Division. Communicate corporate business ethics and Company's Code of Conduct to employees within the Division and ensure compliance to the Corporate Policies and guidelines.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement Promote an organisation culture that encourages innovation, enhances employee motivation and supports initiatives for implementation of Change Management to continuously improve the Division operations and services. Recommend improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with approved standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the Division.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability Support the institution and implementation of an HSE culture and ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures, systems & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines across the Division in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices. Ensure adequate HSE training and induction for all Division employees to meet HSE standards.

Management Information Systems (MIS) and Reports Ensure that all Division MIS and progress reports are prepared to provide accurate and timely reports and necessary information to Company Management to effectively manage the business.

COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Internal Occasional contact other directorates (as required) to align and report on sustainability initiatives and performance. Frequent contact with business line directorates, Group Companies, Corporate Communications, Group HSE and F&I to align and drive sustainability/decarbonisation efforts, sustainability positioning and ESG requirements. External Regular contact with Shareholders and counterparts (as required). Frequent contact with local and international consultancies and financial institutions in matters related to ESG. Occasional contact with government and international organizations in matters related to sustainability performance and indicators

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Minimum Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability or relevant Engineering disciplines Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills 18 years of experience in Environmental Sustainability Indepth knowledge of sustainability and climate change management concepts and expertise in the central issues facing sustainable practices including best management practices
