Salary: To be negotiated Package: Annual flights home paid (once a year). 30 calendar day holidays Health insurance Type of Work: Small Animal handler/trainer. Job Details: We are a vet practice that will combine a day care, grooming and retail unit. We are looking for an experienced dog trainer/handler with enthusiasm for small animals to join this newly established practice in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will oversee the daycare/boarding unit and provide instruction to animals, condition them, determine their receptiveness to training, check them for health or behavioral problems. Besides, the selected person will work with pet owners or animal handlers to find out what are their needs. Besides, the handler/trainer will assist with grooming the animal/habitat maintenance and, helping the veterinarian if needed. The candidate will be required to help in the previous mentioned areas of expertise, but also: - Speaking with animal owners or trainers to determine their goals and expectations. - Developing an understanding of animal behavior. - Creating training regimes for animals. - Monitoring animals for health and behavioral issues, learning about their unique abilities. - Feeding and medicating animals. - Using positive reinforcement and other techniques to elicit desired animal behavior. - Providing updates to other parties about the progress and condition of the animals. - Educating others about animals, their behavior, training, and the environment. - Providing general care to animals, such as grooming, cleaning habitats or sleeping areas, and familiarizing animals with human voices and contact. - Working closely with all colleagues and nurture a culture of collaboration and teamwork. In the future, shifts will be organized with the other handler/trainers to provide a wider and more complete service. This role would suit a certified trainer with at least two years of experience who is interested in all areas of training and day care handling but also, willing to participate from the physiotherapy/alternative treatments area (as an assistant), desiring to grow professionally.
