The ideal candidate must demonstrate knowledge in apparel technical design, tech pack creation and product development. This designer should also have experience in both Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. This position is responsible for helping ensure the quality, fit, actualization of design elements, and meeting and maintaining company quality standards in the product development stages. This candidate will have proven success in the apparel technical design environment or in related design or product development fields. This individual will partner closely with Concept Design, Account Management, Production, Sourcing, and other related divisions.. The ideal candidate will provide support with all phases of the uniform and uniform equipment life cycle, from concept to phase out. The position will support development and sustainment of dress, utility and functional clothing, concept of development, prototyping, pattern development and grading, material selection, component selection, field testing, data analysis and reporting and perform other duties as assigned. Requirements & Skills Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Technical / Apparel Design Min of 3 years experience as a clothing designer Knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, sewing techniques, trim and technical knowledge of fabric construction Microsoft proficiency and expertise knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, CAD) Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality, organization and accuracy Ability to analyze work load and plan accordingly Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be able to work independently and as part of a team Must be able to prioritize and meet strict deadlines Exceptional follow up skills Knowledge and understanding in development and sustainment of dress, utility and/or functional clothing, concept development, prototyping, pattern development and grading, material selection, field testing, data analysis and reporting Must be adaptable self-starter Have a strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently under pressure without the need for in-depth management to achieve goals. Responsibilities Assists in creating, updating, and maintaining all tech packs Ensures tech packs meet creative director\xe2\x80\x99s vision and include detailed technical sketches, construction details, label placement instructions, measurement charts, points of measurement guidelines, etc. Ensures fit charts and TPs are clearly communicated to factory within the calendar deadline Assists in fit sessions to review consistency and helps document fits and quality standards from development through to pre-production samples to ensure records are accurately kept, samples are measured, reviewed and properly labeled and tracked Facilitate sample requests and fabric/trim requests Able to lead a product review, meeting, special projects or calendar optimization with minimal supervision. Combine all necessary trend, material and market research into a viable end product Create or visualize an idea and produce a design by hand or using computer-aided design (CAD) Create mood boards to show to clients Plan and develop ranges, often based on a theme Liaise closely with sales, buying and production teams on an ongoing basis to ensure items suit the customer, market and price points. Understand design for a technical perspective, i.e technical specifications for designs Adapt existing designs for mass production. Develop pattern that is cut and sewn in to sample garments and supervise the creation of these, including fitting, detailing and adaptations Oversee production (in and outsourcing) Negotiate with customer and suppliers.
