To maintain the region's Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) (drone) fleet, provide field support remotely to the operations team and integrate new technologies into the UAV fleet to ensure the continued successful operation of the fleet. Conduct research and development to improve operational efficiency. Requirements Key Accountabilities:
Maintain the regions UAV Fleet
Identify aircraft defects
Provide engineered solutions for aircraft defects
Provide field support remotely to the operations team
Integrate new technologies into the UAV fleet
Integrate new UAVs into the regions fleet
Produce and update engineering documentation and procedures
Conduct Research and Development (R&D) with the R&D engineering team focusing on seeding improvements
Conduct R&D with the regions engineering team focusing on mapping improvements
Maintain the relevant base with sufficient engineering supplies
Aid with onboarding new engineering employees
Organise and setup new engineering workshops

The job holder must work with other UAV Field Engineers, the Field Engineering Manager, the flight operations team, and the engineering R&D team
The primary planning horizon is one to two weeks, with occasional planning required for up to a month or two in advance. Planning generally consists of ensuring the UAV engineers are geographically located where the UAV platforms are required to ensure routine maintenance can be conducted.
Additional planning includes, ensuring the right equipment and consumables have been purchased/acquired upfront so that future engineering tasks can be performed to meet the operations team’s timeline, and being operationally ready
Experience requirement:
Experienced with debugging mechatronics systems
Experience with unmanned systems
Proven experience of working both individually and with others
Experience with certain engineering tools such as soldering irons, heat guns, drills, 3D printers etc.
Experienced in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams
Proven strong research skills
Proven documentation skills
Experience with 3D design software
Qualification and Licences requirement:
Sub 25kg RePL Qualification in order to conduct UAV testing
AROC Qualification in order to conduct UAV testing
An engineering degree in either Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Aeronautics
Driver’s Licence
