Typhoon Fleet Plans & SoR Team Leader Grade: 5 Location: Taif, Saudi Arabia JOB PURPOSE BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons. The purpose of this role is for leading the fleet management and asset planning function within the Fleet Management section of the Typhoon Support Centre (TSC) at Tait, KSA, in order to ensure that the RSAF Typhoon fleet and its critical Line Replaceable Items (LRls) are effectively managed and maintained in accordance with RSAF fleet plans and mandatory continuing airworthiness requirements. To provide proactive management of the Typhoon fleet, and its critical LRls, which will be coordinated by the Integrated Logistics Operations Centre (ILOC}, to ensure that scheduled maintenance requirements, upgrades, capability insertions, maintenance programme changes and operational requirements are planned and accomplished effectively. Also to manage a team of fleet engineers and statement of requirement engineers and to interface directly with the RSAF at all levels, helping their understanding of the Typhoon fleet management requirements and priorities, whilst assisting with the development of Saudi National expertise in the Typhoon fleet management requirements. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES Assist the RSAF Typhoon Fleet Manager, the RSAF HQ delegated authority for all Typhoon fleet management and planning activities, with the generation of the Typhoon Approved Fleet Plan (TAFP) and ad-hoc plans to support deployments and live operations. Tactical and strategic management of the RSAF Typhoon fleet, and its critical LRls, cognisant of, but not limited to, availability, capability, scheduled maintenance, modifications and performance fixes. Life cycle management of, and monitoring of adherence to, the aircraft scheduled maintenance process, utilising Pre Input Review Meetings (PIRMs) and Post Output Review Meetings (PORMs) to ensure all activities meet with RSAF requirements. Monitor Flying Hour (FH) and Fatigue Index (Fl) consumption across the Typhoon fleet in order to support fleet planning activities and ensure effective distribution of airframe life consumption, generating reports and recommendations as required. Review amendments to the Typhoon maintenance programme, issued through the Master Task List (MTL) and ESS updates, in conjunction with the ILOC, Forward Operations and TSC Business Data personnel in order to assess impact on fleet availability and recommend appropriate planning strategy Review Technical Instruction (Tl) requirements with TSC Business Data personnel, Forward Operations and the ILOC in order to asses impact on fleet and generate an effective embodiment strategy for endorsement by RSAF HQ. Co-ordinate the review of reports and recommendations issued by the TSC in Service Data Analysis (ISDA) team in conjunction with TSC Technical Specialists, the ILOC and Forward Operations personnel in order determine appropriate actions or initiate further investigation. Initiate ad-hoc analysis of Typhoon sub-system data by TSC ISDA team and relevant Technical Specialists in order to identify trends and opportunities for development and improvements. Direct ad-hoc analysis of specific system in-service data by ISDA and Technical Specialists in order to perform the Fleet Management task. Develop and maintain TSC Processes and Procedures relating to fleet management and planning. Hold regular planning and prioritisation meetings with the RSAF Typhoon Fleet Manager and the TSC Commander (TSC Cdr). Generate and maintain status reports relevant to fleet management. Act as the deputy to the RSAF Typhoon Fleet Manager in their absence. Undertake any additional, reasonable, tasks as may from time to time be requested by TSC and RSAF management. Leadership of the TSC based team accountable for the smooth running of the RSAF Typhoon fleet, including the provision of fleet management direction to both RSAF and BAESSA stakeholders and structured On-the-Job training for RSAF and Saudi National fleet management staff, in form of training, coaching, work experience and mentoring, as appropriate. RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION Qualified to degree level or equivalent HND/HNC in an Aeronautical/ Mechanical engineering discipline, with extensive proven experience in an aircraft support/maintenance management. Must have extensive in-depth knowledge of aircraft maintenance programs and be capable of managing multiple simultaneous programs, working to tight deadlines and with multiple stakeholder inputs. Proficient understanding of aircraft life cycle management and operations. Capable of managing a multi-national team, integrating it into a virtual, multi-agency, team, which may be geographically dispersed. Proficient in strategic thinking and able to communicate ideas and solutions across the management command chain. Extensive knowledge of aircraft fleet management principles and practices, including the requirements for continuing airworthiness management. A seasoned knowledge of statistical, analytical and maintenance management presentation techniques. A thorough knowledge of the Typhoon fleet management requirements of the Engineering Support System (ESS) and use of the Microsoft Office suit of programmes would be advantageous RECRUITMENT The post holder will have the following background: Ideally from within BAE Systems, or currently serving within the RAF, to ensure familiarity with Typhoon fleet management requirements and maintenance management systems. Candidates from a non-Typhoon fleet management background with other relevant experience gained with another air force will be considered where-by additional training can be provided.
