Jacobs has developed one of the leading and longest-standing geotechnical and tunnelling consultancy capabilities, with approximately 400 geotechnical and tunnelling engineers delivering practical and innovative solutions to ground-related problems.
As part of our strategy for growth and to further develop our capabilities in the tunnelling sector, Jacobs are growing their Tunnelling Division and are looking to hire Junior, Intermediate and Senior Tunnelling Engineres in the UAE.
Reporting to the Tunnel Regional Lead you will be a key resource in project and work package delivery and have the ability to work with minimal supervision for a range of internal and external clients. Our tunnels team focusses on a range of small to large scale projects from pipejack to large diameter tunnels, utilising techniques from TBM tunnelling to Drill and Blast Methods. Work undertaken can be structural and/or geotechnical in nature.
Sector Experience - The candidate will have demonstrable experience in the design of work packages in the tunnelling sector. Ideally this should cover a wide range of sectors with experience in several or all the following areas: Metro, Highway, Heavy Rail, Utility and Conveyance. Experience in hard rock tunnelling is highly desirable.
Here's What You'll Need:
Proven experience in tunnel design
Able to provide support to the more junior members of the team as and when required
Have experience preparing designs and drawings
Be able to write technical reports
Demonstrable experience in the design of work packages in the tunnelling sector. Ideally this should cover a wide range of sectors with experience in several or all of the following areas: Metro, Highway, Heavy Rail, Utility and Conveyance.
Demonstrable expertise in segmental and SCL lining design
Experience in hard rock tunnelling is highly desirable
Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.
MICE Chartered Engineer status
A sound academic knowledge of civil/tunnel engineering
Knowledge of relevant European codes and standards
Strong communication skills with fluency in verbal and written English
Computer literate in relevant discipline software such as; Plaxis, FLAC, MIDAS and SAP.
Team player but with an ability to work independently and manage small teams as required
