Jacobs has developed one of the leading and longest-standing geotechnical and tunneling consultancy capabilities, with approximately 400 geotechnical and tunneling engineers delivering practical and innovative solutions to ground-related problems.

As part of our strategy for growth and to further develop our capabilities in the tunneling sector, Jacobs are looking to hire a Tunneling Engineer.

Reporting to the Senior Tunneling Engineer and Tunnel Regional Lead you will be a key resource in project and work package delivery and have the ability to work with minimal supervision for a range of internal and external clients. Our tunnels team focusses on a range of small to large scale projects from pipe jacking to large diameter tunnels, utilizing techniques from TBM tunneling to Drill and Blast Methods. Work undertaken can be structural and/or geotechnical in nature.

Sector Experience \xe2\x80\x93 The candidate will have demonstrable experience in the design of work packages in the tunneling sector. Ideally this should cover a wide range of sectors with experience in several or all the following areas: Metro, Highway, Heavy Rail, Utility and Conveyance. Experience in hard rock tunneling is highly desirable. Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Need:

• At least 4 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in tunnel design
• Experience in preparing designs and drawings
• Be able to write technical reports
• Demonstrable experience in the design of work packages in the tunneling sector. Ideally this should cover a wide range of sectors with experience in several or all of the following areas: Metro, Highway, Heavy Rail, Utility and Conveyance.
• Demonstrable expertise in segmental and SCL lining design
• Experience in hard rock tunneling is highly desirable
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills
• A sound academic knowledge of civil/tunnel engineering
• Knowledge of relevant European codes and standards
• Strong communication skills with fluency in verbal and written English
• Computer literate in relevant discipline software such as; Plaxis, FLAC, MIDAS and SAP
• Team player but with an ability to work independently and manage small teams as required
