Job Purpose

\xe2\x80\x8bTo handle maintenance, repairs, and upgrades in the dental laboratory facilities, and support health care professionals and students who are using them, as well as safely test the labs and assure proper functioning of facilities, materials and equipment.\xe2\x80\x8b

Main accountabilities & expectations

• Help maintain and prepare the dental lab, and ensure that all equipment are properly functioning and ready for use, including the surgical equipment and tools.
• Work with a range of materials, including plastics, waxes, alloys, steel, polymer glass and porcelain in order to help restore natural teeth by fabricating crowns, bridges, implants, braces, etc.
• Replace partial or total loss of natural teeth by constructing partial or full dentures (metal and non-metal).
• Assist dental students when they need help with treatment plans, creating dental impressions using a Base Former, working in the prosthodontics labs, etc.
• Ensure proper inspection/maintenance of training models and medical instruments are done on regular basis, and report any malfunctions or issues immediately.
• Assist in managing lab facilities by making sure that the equipment and machines are in good working order and recommends improvements as appropriate to maintain standards of accuracy and reliability.
• Ensure and reinforce safety standards and protocols in the laboratory, and implement safety training for both faculty and students.
• Provide an array of video libraries, examinations and procedures in order to help dental students prepare for class experiments, surgical procedures and clinical examinations.
• Assist in preparing laboratory supply inventory and ordering of laboratory equipment, reagents and consumables.
• Complete forms, reports, logs, records and other related documents.
• Oversee the cleanliness and tidiness of the Laboratory at all times.\xe2\x80\x8b

Required Skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
• Good laboratory management including knowledge of basic lab principles and applications as well as methods, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Demonstrate a good understanding of operating the required software/hardware
• Able to understand the meaning of common error messages and explain them to users in simple language.
• Ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks and produce reports under strict guidelines.
• High integrity and openness combined with commitment to good governance
• Use technical knowledge to help and assist users overcome any difficulties.
• Flexibility and ability to function effectively as part of a team.
• Proficiency in MS office applications.\xe2\x80\x8b

Desirable Requirements

• Minimum of Bachelors in Dental Medicine, or any related discipline.
• 1-4 years of UAE experience in similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
• Priority is to UAE Nationals.\xe2\x80\x8b
