Job Purpose

To be responsible for the cleaning, assembling, inspecting, wrapping and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures at the University Dental Hospital. As well as ensure that equipment, instruments, and supplies can be reused safely to prevent infections.\xe2\x80\x8b

Main accountabilities & expectations

1. Process instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control standards and guidelines, and ensure that the hospital\'s health and safety policies, procedures and regulations as well as infection control guidelines are being implemented and followed at all times.

2. Receive soiled dental instruments in the decontamination area from various clinics and perform thorough cleaning and decontamination of contaminated dental instruments manually and/or using mechanical cleaning (washer).

3. Operate mechanical washer and sterilization machines effectively, and ensure all soiled dental instruments are appropriately clean and sterilized for reuse.

4. Ensure the proper use of Biological Indicators and constant documentation of the efficacy of steam sterilizer. As well as monitor and record the required temperature of each area especially the sterile area on a daily basis

5. Perform constant inspections to ensure the cleanliness and proper functioning of various dental instruments and equipment, and to identify any possible defects, as well as perform the required assembling, packing and labeling in preparation for sterilization.

6. Handle, process and store sterilized dental instruments and distribute them to the appropriate clinic areas in a timely manner. As well as identify each sterilizer load, recognize disorders

7. Monitor inventory, record supplies, check expiration dates and maintain proper records and documentation. As well as prepare any related reports, analyses, lists, and statistics when requested.

8. Communicate and follow up with the Biomedical department in order to coordinate regular maintenance for the equipment and machines in the facility, and report any matters of concern to the line manager.

9. Examine supplies, test equipment as required, and report any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment to the appropriate authority.

10. Ensure, reinforce, and follow safety standards and protocols in the working area, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as fluid-resistant facemasks, eye protection, disposable gowns, utility gloves, etc. As well as maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the working area at all times.\xe2\x80\x8b

Required Skills

\xc2\xa7 Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.

\xc2\xa7 Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.

\xc2\xa7 Ability to operate sterilization machines effectively.

\xc2\xa7 Excellent technical skills and familiarity with sterilization techniques.

\xc2\xa7 Able to understand the meaning of common error messages and explain them to users in simple language.

\xc2\xa7 In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations.

\xc2\xa7 Strong attention to detail.

\xc2\xa7 Excellent interpersonal skills.

\xc2\xa7 Good judgment and critical-thinking skills.

\xc2\xa7 Has strength and endurance to be able to handle the physical demands of the job.

\xc2\xa7 Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and produce reports under strict guidelines.

Desirable Requirements

\xc2\xa7 Minimum of Bachelors in Dental Medicine, Central Sterile Services (CSSD), or any related discipline.

\xc2\xa7 Valid MOH License.

\xc2\xa7 1-4 years of UAE experience in a similar role preferably in higher education institutions.

\xc2\xa7 Priority is to UAE Nationals.\xe2\x80\x8b
