Job Description

Role: TECHNICIAN, VEHICLE INSPECTION (UAE Nationals) Location: Posting available for Abu Dhabi, Al Ain & Sharjah Company: ADNOC Distribution Experience level: Fresh Graduates and Experienced individuals

JOB PURPOSE: To carry out vehicle inspection on vehicles in the assigned track and to enter Vehicle Inspection final results. Ensures that functioning of all approved vehicles are in accordance with the Vehicle Inspection specifications laid down by the Police Department.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Job Specific Accountabilities Receives vehicle and the Inspection Receipt from customers. Ensures that details in the Inspection Receipt tallies with the vehicle registration card and plate number. Moves the vehicle for inspection in the correct position in the specified track. Enters vehicle plate number in the system and ensures that all details in the system tallies with the vehicle registration card. Commences sequence of technical inspection. Checks the exhaust emissions from the vehicle to ensure that they are in accordance with the specifications. Carries out the shock absorber test. Checks the wear and tear of the shock absorber and brake system. Verifies its proper functioning and checks the balancing of the front and rear end of the vehicle. Inspects the external and general appearance of the vehicle, includes verifying if the chassis number is correct, checking the exhaust emissions visually, checking the vehicle's body condition, paint, windshield, front and rear tyres, power train and suspension system and the functioning of the chassis itself. Consults the supervisor in all cases related to major damages in chassis and all relevant issues. Enters a full report of the vehicle inspection on the system, specifying defects in the car, if any. Forwards the Final Inspection Result to the point of certificate delivery through the system. Explains defects or reason for test failure, if requested. Gives vehicle keys and receipt to the supervisor. Carries out extra inspection tasks on public transport such as checking the cleanliness of taxies, verifying the proper functioning of meters, checking the availability and functioning of fire extinguishers and so on. Prepares and operates all equipment and computers for vehicle inspection in the beginning of the working day and shuts them down by the end of the day. Performs other similar or related duties as and when assigned by Vehicle Inspection Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Minimum Qualification Higher Diploma in Automobile Engineering Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills Fresh Graduate or 2-3 years of experience in vehicle inspection/ repair

Maintain all tools, safety gear and equipment provided by company safely and in working condition. . Arrange for repair or replacement of any tools and safety gear that may not be in good working condition. Time Management . Carry out all maintenance jobs in line with assigned time standards. . Inform the Maintenance Supervisor in case additional resources are required to carry out the job within the assigned time frame. Innovation and Continuous Improvement . Contribute to the identification of areas and opportunities for continuous improvement in the operating procedures, modification of functional processes, machinery or equipment. Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability . Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices. . Participate in Emergency Response duties as a team member. Housekeeping . Maintain the work environment clean and tidy before, during and after executing the job, in line with established standards of Hygiene and Housekeeping. Reports . Collect technical data from the field as required and provide inputs to prepare Section progress reports for Company Management. . Provide input for the preparation of Method statements and initiate Near Miss reports.

Internal Communications & Working Relationships

. Has regular contact with the Vehicle Inspection Supervisor to receive work instruction, advice, to discuss issues and to seek opinion on critical technical issues. . Has frequent contact with other Vehicle Inspection Technicians for work coordination and to discuss and obtain opinions on relevant issues.

External Communications & Working Relationships

Has frequent contact with customers to receive inspection receipts and to drive vehicles to inspection tracks.

Minimum Qualification

Diploma in Vehicle Mechanics or equivalent.

Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills

. 4 years' experience in vehicle repair and inspection in a reputable organisation. . PC literate . Very good knowledge and command of English language. Arabic an advantage. Work Condition, Physical effort & Work Environment

Physical Effort Approximately 50% of work time is spent using a computer to enter inspected vehicle's data. Standing, walking, bending and handles and operates machines most of work time while carrying out vehicle inspection. Work Environment Duties are performed mostly in weather prevailing condititons. Exposure to heat, humidity, noise, exhaust emissions, oil and water leaks, hot water from overheated engines and so on.
