The EMSTEEL Condition Monitoring Technician is accountable to carry out condition monitoring services on all rotating equipment on a day-to-day basis, as identified within the condition monitoring program. This involves the application of a wide range of monitoring techniques including vibration monitoring, lube oil analysis, thermograph measurements and machinery performance monitoring. Types of equipment include electrical motors, gear boxes, centrifugal pumps, steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, fans & blowers, turbo-expanders and fan coolers. Carries out predictive maintenance, vibration monitoring and analysis and provide information and basic recommendation for corrective action, as and when required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(Key Accountabilities)
The EMSTEEL Condition Monitoring Technician must possess an unquestionable reputation for integrity, ethics, and personal values.
Carries out vibration monitoring service for all rotating equipment as scheduled.
Uses a variety of special and modern equipment; machinery data collector, accelerometer, tachometer and specific software's; AMS Machinery Heath manager / RBMware etc.
Carries out vibration testing of new machinery for acceptance during startup and commissioning phase.
Collects dynamic vibration data [motor solo run / coupled run] from main rotating equipment, its auxiliaries and balance of plant equipment during start-up and commissioning phase of new plant facilities. Same to be followed on running machines during steady state operation of the plant.
Collects vibration data from all rotating equipment using hand held portable data collector.
Collects lube oil samples from all main equipment lubrication systems for monitoring and analysis. Visual inspection of lube oil to be done and abnormality reported.
Makes routine visual checks to ascertain any machinery fault by feel, sight or sound. Notifies concerned personnel of any malfunctions.
Reporting to the Condition Monitoring Section of any problems or abnormality observed on any rotating
equipment.
Generating reports after carrying out field tests for records and documentation.
Responsible for the support of Company HSE policies and programs by carrying out specific duties and responsibilities related to his job in safe and sound manner.
Be aware of and comply with all company Quality Assurance systems and documentation.

Carry out alignment jobs by means of laser alignment equipment or conventional methods.
Carry out thermograph survey for plant equipment as planned schedule or requested.
Carry out onsite balancing job for rotary equipment as requested.
Carry out onsite oil analysis for the collected samples as needed or scheduled.
Carry out ENDOSKOPE inspection for rotary or stationary equipment as requested.
Carry out cleanliness checking for hydraulic systems by using online testing equipment.
Operational Management:
+ Personally, resolve critical problem to minimize the production downtime.
+ Respond to emergencies, ensuring that operational targets are not unnecessarily prejudiced by breakdowns and losses are minimized.
Safety, Quality & Environment:
+ Direct & follow-up all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls across the Reliability Department to promote awareness on employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products / services and a responsible environmental attitude. + HSE responsibilities includes, but not limited to the following:
Lead from the front by ensuring all personal HSE Leading KPIs are met.
Direct, Maintain and ensure Maintenance Team to follow EMSTEEL Health, Safety and Environment procedure through regular Audits and timely closure of H&S related Actions.
Policies & Procedures:
+ Direct the development of policies covering all areas of the Reliability department related to Condition Monitoring Items, so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective services to customers
Additional Responsibilities
Assist Operations department in the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
Long term plant health aanalysis and review of operating parameters.
Investigation into the use of various other advances condition monitoring techniques (e.g. ultrasonic noise probes, motor phase current monitoring, pump performance monitoring).
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. An understanding of Condition Monitoring and the role it has in Condition Based Maintenance (CBM).
Basic technical skills related to plants rotary equipment.
Special knowledge is desirable on Condition monitoring machinery analyzers.
Basic PC skills with knowledge in MS Word, Excel, Power point, MS Outlook is required
Capability of identifying problem in the plant.
Good Physical health.
Fair working knowledge of written and spoken English
Minimum Education Qualifications (Must Haves)
Preferred professional training (Nice to have)
Diploma or equivalent technical qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
2 years formal courses in technical / engineering discipline.
Professional Experience (Must Haves)
Experience Recommended (Nice to have)
5 years of experience as condition monitoring technician in a steel plant.
Working experience of Bently Nevada / CSI / SKF / IRD - PC based On-line & Offline Condition Monitoring systems (Hardware & Software).
