Technician - District Cooling Plant
Job Title: Technician - District Cooling Plant (DCP)
Report To: DCP Supervisor / Shift Engineer
Job Summary:
The District Cooling Plant (DCP) Technician is responsible for the hands-on operation, monitoring, and maintenance of all mechanical and electrical equipment within the district cooling plant. This role is vital for ensuring the continuous, efficient, and safe production of chilled water for distribution to client buildings.
Key Responsibilities:

• Plant Operation & Monitoring: Conduct continuous rounds to inspect and monitor the operation of chillers, cooling towers, primary & secondary pumps, expansion vessels, chemical dosing systems, and air separation units. Log operational parameters (pressures, temperatures, flows, amperages) and report any abnormalities.
• Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks as per the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). This includes lubricating bearings, replacing seals, cleaning strainers, changing filters, and calibrating instruments.
• Corrective Maintenance: Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures on pumps, motors, valves, and piping systems. Assist senior technicians and engineers in major overhauls of chillers and other large rotating equipment.
• Water Treatment: Assist in taking water samples (condenser and chilled water loops) for chemical analysis. Implement chemical dosing instructions under supervision and maintain blow-down controls for cooling towers.
• System Start-up/Shutdown: Safely execute start-up and shutdown sequences for plant equipment as directed by the supervisor or according to operational requirements.
• HSE Compliance: Strictly adhere to all Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Handle refrigerants and chemicals according to safety data sheets (SDS). Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe plant environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: 2-4 years of hands-on experience in a central utility plant, district cooling plant, or heavy industrial environment with rotating machinery.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and HVAC-R principles. Familiarity with centrifugal or absorption chillers is a significant advantage.
• Certifications: Valid UAE driver's license. Certification in refrigerant handling (e.g., EPA, CITB) is preferred.
