Primary Role Focus

The Eastern Hemisphere Technical Services Team Lead is a senior engineering role that includes the functions of a Senior Technical Service Engineer, providing supervision to the local engineering group and overseeing projects and tasks. The Team Lead will ensure projects are completed with the highest level of technical competency, efficiently and effectively. The Team Lead sets an example to demonstrate best practices for engineering and job design, application of new technology, and identifies opportunities for improvement in team efficiencies with a high emphasis on job file organization.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Supervise, set direction, establish goals, and mentor Technical Services Engineering team members
  • Review all incoming job proposals, tenders and inquiries
  • Delegate work to team and self in the following areas:
  • Receive customer requests and offer our best applicable solution(s)
  • Coordinate with manufacturing for product quotes and delivery
  • Manage orders and projects from design through installation
  • Eliminate all job problems by utilizing engineering and operational resources
  • Act as a liaison between sales, manufacturing, field operations and engineering, communicating any innovative ideas, suggestions, recommendations, or concepts to the design team for further development
  • Advocate and identify opportunities for running new technology, and propose future design projects that can benefit the region and company overall
  • Verify that all workflow and summary records are maintained
  • Maintain communication with Engineering groups across different regions to relay best practices
  • Final review of any Field Trouble Report and Non-Conformance Report documentation
  • Supporting the Operations & Sales teams with in-person and/or virtual customer meetings and follow up
  • Review, identify, assess and manage operational and safety risks for installation, stimulation, shifting, milling, etc. job-related procedures for delivery of successful job
  • Anticipate potential issues and take proactive measures in problem solving
  • Participate in Packers Plus quality, health and safety initiatives, provide input to risk assessments for job related operations whenever needed
Position Requirements

Experience & Skills
  • Ability to lead a team of engineers
  • Possess technical expertise in engineering principles, downhole and completion tools/equipment and Packers Plus specific technology
  • Effective written, verbal and presentation skills using a variety of media
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Practical field knowledge and experience in liner hanger systems, completions, downhole tools and fracturing/stimulation
  • Familiarity with oil and gas related standards, validation and quality grades (e.g., API 5CT, API 19LH, API 19AC, API 19D1 and NACE)
  • Experience with completion & well construction engineering related software models or calculations, e.g. torque & drag analysis, tubing movement calculation, completion equipment stress analysis with various loading conditions
  • Familiar with shifting tools, plugs/prongs and standard completion flow control equipment are an added advantage
Education and Training
  • University Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum or another related field)
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a liner hanger or completion system coordinator/ manager (or single point of contact), or broadly equivalent role
  • Minimum of 10 years of direct operational, application and/or coordination experience in the engineering and installation of oil/gas well completions (offshore experience is an asset)
  • Experience in managing a team of application or technical support engineers is an asset
  • Professional engineering membership an asset
  • Basic safety training is required
Physical, Business and Safety Requirements
  • Significant use of computer monitor, keyboard and mouse
  • You may be required to sit at a desk for extended periods of time
  • Travel is required
