The Technical Manager plays a key role in the planning, design, and execution of construction projects. This position is responsible for creating detailed architectural and technical drawings, ensuring regulatory compliance, coordinating with various stakeholders, and resolving technical issues throughout the project lifecycle. The Technical Manager also leads design efforts and oversees construction alignment with technical specifications and design intent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive building designs and detailed drawings using manual techniques and CAD software.
Evaluate the feasibility of potential projects by liaising with construction professionals and consultants.
Address constraints such as zoning regulations, environmental impacts, and budget limitations.
Collaborate closely with building services engineers, construction managers, quantity surveyors, and architectural technologists.
Prepare and submit planning permission applications and liaise with governmental and legal departments.
Draft and present technical reports, design proposals, applications, and contractual documents.
Define technical requirements and design specifications for construction projects.
Modify architectural and technical plans as needed and troubleshoot issues during construction.
Coordinate with contractors and on-site teams to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
Maintain adherence to industry standards and company protocols throughout all project phases.
Participate in project and team management duties, supporting the overall delivery of successful outcomes.
Conduct regular site visits and attend client and stakeholder meetings.
Authority:
Represent the company in technical discussions with consultants, clients, and regulatory bodies.
Approve architectural and technical drawings before submission to authorities or execution.
Make decisions regarding design changes, material specifications, and technical resolutions within assigned authority levels.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Design, or a related field.
Minimum 6 years of experience in a construction company in a similar technical or design-focused role.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and ideally Revit.
Familiarity with Vectorworks is a plus.
Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.
Strong analytical, design-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
