The Facade Technical Engineer is responsible for the detailed engineering, performance analysis, and technical coordination of facade systems in building projects. This includes support during design development, material selection, structural analysis, and site implementation. The role requires strong understanding of building envelope systems, materials, structural integrity, thermal and acoustic performance, and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design and engineering of building facade systems (curtain walls, cladding, glazing, etc.)
Develop technical drawings, calculations, and specifications for facade elements.
Conduct structural, thermal, acoustic, and weather performance analysis of facade systems.
Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure facade designs meet architectural intent and performance criteria.
Review shop drawings and material submittals for compliance with project specifications.
Support the procurement of facade components and provide technical evaluation of supplier bids.
Conduct site visits to monitor installation quality and resolve technical issues.
Participate in facade system testing, such as water and air infiltration, structural load testing, etc.
Ensure designs comply with local building codes, fire safety regulations, and sustainability standards (e.g., LEED, BREEAM).
Assist in value engineering to provide cost-effective design solutions without compromising performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
3-7 years of experience in facade engineering or related field.
Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit), structural analysis tools (e.g., STAAD, SAP2000), and facade-specific software (e.g., Rhino, Grasshopper, THERM).
Knowledge of facade materials (glass, aluminum, steel, composites, stone, etc.) and fabrication methods.
Familiar with international facade standards and codes (ASTM, EN, BS, AAMA, CWCT).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
