As a Secondary School Science Teacher, you will be responsible for educating students in grades 9-12 in one or more scientific disciplines, such as Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. Your role extends beyond delivering curriculum; it involves crafting lesson plans that foster inquiry, designing hands-on laboratory experiments, and assessing student understanding to prepare them for higher education and careers.
Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum & Lesson Planning: Develop comprehensive, standards-aligned unit and lesson plans that incorporate a variety of teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities. Integrate state and national science standards (e.g., NGSS - Next Generation Science Standards).
• Instructional Delivery: Deliver clear, coherent, and engaging instruction on complex scientific principles. Use storytelling, real-world applications, and Socratic questioning to make content relevant and memorable.
• Laboratory & Experimental Design: Plan, prepare, and supervise safe and effective laboratory experiments. Teach students the scientific method, proper lab techniques, data collection, and analysis. Manage laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with all safety protocols.
• Differentiated Instruction & Assessment: Create a variety of formative and summative assessments (quizzes, tests, lab reports, projects) to gauge student learning. Use data from assessments to provide targeted feedback, re-teach concepts, and differentiate instruction for students who need extra support or additional challenge.
• Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and structured classroom environment conducive to learning. Implement clear expectations, routines, and procedures to maximize instructional time.
• Student Support & Mentorship: Act as an advisor and mentor, supporting students' academic and personal growth. Identify students who are struggling and collaborate with counselors, special education staff, and parents to develop intervention strategies.
• Professional Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with other science teachers to align curriculum and share best practices. Maintain regular and proactive communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in a Science field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or in Education with a science specialization.
• A state-issued teaching certification or license for secondary science education.
• Deep content knowledge in the subject area(s) to be taught.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain difficult concepts clearly.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with adolescents and fostering a love of learning.
• Proficiency with educational technology for instruction and grading.
