Job Description

Foster a supportive and respectful learning environment which enhances children's learning
through play and through the development of relationships inspired by the center's vision.
2. Responsible to plan and prepare materials for activities & display boards for current and
forthcoming topics.
3. Give presentations and Instruct children in the correct use and care of equipment and
materials in order to prevent injury and or damage.
4. To work with the teacher to organize and lead activities to promote all areas of
development, cognitive, literacy, math, social and emotional, physical, creativity and
understanding the world
5. Assists in the implementation and the maintaining of the daily routine in the classroom.
6. Responsible to teach basic personal hygiene, proper eating habits and social skills.
7. Act as classroom teacher if and when needed especially in the absence of teacher, following
the lesson plan and regular academic routine.
8. Assist with photocopying and laminating of teaching materials; and assist in labelling
children's work and displays.
9. Assist teacher to adhere to the class timetable; and to re-enforce learning concepts.
10. Assist teacher to prepare, plan, deliver effective teaching and learning programs and
observe, assess and document children's progress.
11. Ensure that the health and safety of the children is maintained AT ALL TIMES in
keeping with the child protection and safety policy.
12. Assist in preparation of children's reports and portfolios for parents each term.
13. Establish and maintain a learning environment both indoors and outdoors that is stimulating
and provides a wide range of resources and materials that the children can utilize to develop
individual and group projects.
14. Undertake domestic jobs within the ELC when required; tidying equipment, bathroom duties
(hand washing, changing nappies and general bathroom hygiene) preparation and assistance
