As a professional in your role, your responsibilities and essential job functions will include but are not limited to:

• Perform alterations, repairs, and fittings on guest room linens, uniforms, and other textiles in a hotel.
• Take accurate measurements of guests and staff members to ensure proper fitting of garments.
• Sew, hem, and mend garments and linens using appropriate sewing techniques and equipment.
• Follow garment care instructions and ensure that garments are properly cleaned and pressed before alterations or repairs.
• Collaborate with the housekeeping department to identify and address any garment or linen issues, such as tears, stains, or worn-out fabrics.
• Maintain an inventory of sewing supplies, including threads, needles, buttons, and zippers, and request replacements as needed.
• Keep work area clean and organized, ensuring safe handling of sewing equipment and materials.
• Provide excellent customer service by promptly assisting guests and staff with their garment and linen alteration needs.
• Stay updated on current fashion trends and sewing techniques to provide innovative and high-quality alterations.

Ideally, you should possess some or all the following qualifications and experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in tailoring or sewing is a plus.
• Proven experience as a tailor or seamstress, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
• Proficient in using sewing machines, sergers, and other sewing tools and equipment.
• Strong knowledge of different fabrics and their care requirements.
• Excellent sewing and alteration skills, with the ability to create precise and well-finished garments.
• Attention to detail and ability to work with precision, ensuring accurate measurements and precise stitching.
• Strong time management skills to handle multiple alteration requests and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests and staff in a professional and friendly manner.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with other departments as needed.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing garment alteration needs and priorities.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions while sewing.
