Job Summary: The tailor is responsible for creating, altering, and repairing garments according to customer specifications. This role requires strong sewing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with various types of fabrics and patterns. The tailor will collaborate with clients to understand their specific requirements and ensure that the final product meets their expectations. Additionally, the tailor may provide recommendations and advice on fabric selection, alterations, and garment care. Responsibilities: Perform garment alterations, including hemming, resizing, and repairing seams, to ensure proper fit and functionality. Cut, sew, and assemble garments according to customer specifications, taking accurate measurements and following patterns. Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, offer expert advice on fabric selection, design options, and alterations. Operate sewing machines, sergers, and other tools and equipment to complete tasks efficiently and accurately. Inspect finished garments for quality and accuracy, making any necessary adjustments or repairs. Keep detailed records of client measurements, alterations, and preferences to ensure consistent and personalized service. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the proper storage and maintenance of sewing tools and equipment. Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and advancements in sewing and garment construction. Communicate with clients professionally and provide excellent customer service, addressing any concerns or issues promptly. Follow safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment, including proper handling of sharp tools and hazardous materials. Requirements: Proven experience as a tailor or seamstress, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in garment construction and alterations. Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines, sergers, and other sewing tools and equipment. Strong knowledge of different fabrics, their characteristics, and appropriate sewing techniques for each type. Excellent sewing skills, including precise measuring, cutting, and stitching. Attention to detail and a keen eye for quality and accuracy. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients and understand their requirements. Ability to work independently and efficiently, managing time and prioritizing tasks effectively. Creative problem-solving skills to address unique alterations and design challenges. Knowledge of garment care and maintenance techniques to provide appropriate advice to clients. Flexibility to work with various garment types, styles, and sizes.
