Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes according to established recipes and standards.
2. Ensure the freshness and quality of all ingredients used in sushi preparation.
3. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the sushi preparation area, including proper storage of ingredients and utensils.
4. Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards at all times, following proper sanitation procedures.
5. Collaborate with other kitchen staff members to coordinate timing and presentation of sushi dishes with other menu items.
6. Monitor inventory levels and communicate with the Head Chef or management regarding ingredient orders and replenishment needs.
7. Stay updated on current trends and techniques in sushi preparation, incorporating new ideas into menu offerings when appropriate.
8. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff members in sushi preparation techniques and best practices.
Qualifications:
1. Proven experience as a Sushi Chef, with a minimum of 2-3 years working in a high-volume restaurant setting.
2. In-depth knowledge of traditional Japanese sushi preparation techniques, including rice preparation, fish handling, and sushi rolling.
3. Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment, while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
4. Excellent knife skills and attention to detail.
5. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
6. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
